Kevin Durant - Racist Remarks on Hayward....surprised...

Let's slow down on the whole "racism" cry can we? I'll give you a "it's a thoughtless comment" how about that?

I was disappointed in KD.

I thought he respected Hayward more than this comment. I realize his tone was jovial but I was still
surprised...

He was asked about Ibaka's block on Hayward....

Went on to say "Hayward is pretty athletic...for a white guy". Where's the media uproar on this ?

It was a joke. We should laugh.

Now, if it had been a white guy making a joke about a black guy of course that would be an entirely different matter.

I know it's a joke, but to me comments like this are rarely, if ever, appropriate. These comments just perpetuate and reinforce a stereotype. Just because that stereotype is about the majority (instead of a minority) doesn't make it appropriate.

Your pretty easily offended, for a [insert your race here] person.

I'm genuinely not offended. I am surprised at what we as society allow to be said about one ethnic or racial group, but not to another. Also, public comments such as this always have more scrutiny. If Gordon and Kevin were good friends, this comment might be just fine in private. I'm not sure it's appropriate as a public comment, similar to my "smart for a black guy" comment above.

You try to disguise an insult to the intelligence of a group of people by paralleling an innocent joke that is offensive to no one.

Offensive. Unnecessary. Rude. Neg repped.

Just you wait until a black person makes fun of white people's dancing. Then he'll let you know what he REALLY thinks of black people.

My opinion is that political correctness sucks, so I'm on the opposite end of this spectrum from you. I was being sarcastic when I suggested that it would be offensive if it was the other way around, but that might have gotten lost in translation. I'm sick and tired of people who are always looking for something to be offended about, or even worse, for something that they think some group they don't even belong to ought to get offended about.
