What's new

Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

What about Diaw? He already comes off the bench. We have Gobert so there's the French thing. Quin coached in the Spurs system. More importantly, dude is skilled and can play a couple different positions.

So here is the new plan...

We move Mack to NO for Pondexter - They do it because they need cheap rotation players and have too many question marks health wise. We do it because if Pondexter is healthy he's basically the perfect fit for what we need. Combo forward who can also be a 3 and D wing on a smaller contract. If he isn't healthy we play Ingles.

Move Burke to whatever team doesn't get a pg in FA. Get a second or just get him off the books... I don't care that much.

Cut Johnson and sign a couple second round types or undrafted guys with decent potential. Give them the super long Neto 4 year unguaranteed deal.

Use $22M in cap space to renegotiate Favs and Hill. Giving Hill a deal that looks like $19M, $11M, $11M. I think he'd get close to $15M-$18M per year next year so this essentially gives him that.

Favs new deal would look like $22, $23, $17.5, $18.5.

Gets us to the floor... gives our rotation some more upside and diversity. Increases the value of both Favs and Hill if one needs to be moved later. Allows us to comfortably bring back all the main players the next year.

19/11/11 for Hill?????? No thank you. Dude isn't worth that much. 22/23/17.5/18.5 is steep for Favors too. We will already be in a BAAAAAD way going forward if they screw up and pay Hayward the max next year (which they will). On top of that they have to pay Gobert, Exum and Hood in the not so distant future. These contracts wouldn't help. They are front loaded but still way too expensive.

Go read the tea leaves... Prices are going to be crazy the next two years. Hill at 11&11 will be a huge value. Lin will get more than that and Hill is >>>>> Lin.

The price this year is irrelevant... We are using current cap space to free up future cap space.

Prices will be crazy but I'm not sold that they will be that crazy. Hill made 8 mill last season and that was at the high end for combo guards with similar stats. I'm sure prices will rise but rising by more than 3 mill is cray. I guess we'll find out when free agency begins. It's going to be interesting to see what the market looks like.

You do realize that the cap went up by ~$20 million right? There's going to be too much money everywhere, plus it's suppose to raise by another $20 mil next year too.

WTF does his current salary have to do with anything. He is seen as a bargain at $8 m the last few years... he signed his deal like 5 years ago.

Please name me the combo guards that have similar stats... don't ignore that he also plays defense... and don't ignore efficiency.

This is one FA that DL might want to do some due diligence with. He should be at the end of his rookie deal, he stunk last year in summer league and Larry Brid opted not to extend him. With Paul George back his minutes were greatly diminished and his ppg is about equal to Withey or Ingles and Booker scored more. Also in his picture he looks fat so if he gets a big payday it's off to Chuckarama for three squares each day.

I like the fit, but I'm sure I will hate the price. He also was really good for 30 games... before that he was pretty meh.

Sneaky underrated GM (probably one the very best in the league) Dennis Lindsey

They have plenty of guys that can handle the ball, Add Burks too.

This Jazz starting 5 is going to be terrifying.

well respected dude

Purty sure I heard David Locke mention him a time or two

Someone joked about Trey Lyles/Trey Burke, Trey Burke/Alec Burks and George Hill/Solomon Hill. And low and behold lol.

Any names similar to Gobert or Hood out there?

Andy Larsen: Another player I’ve heard from sources about the Jazz being interested in come free agency: Luol Deng.

The Utah Jazz have expressed interest in acquiring Indiana forward Solomon Hill once the free agency period opens on Friday at midnight, The Salt Lake Tribune has learned.

Multiple league sources say the interest is mutual between the Hill and the Jazz. But that doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be obstacles for Utah in its potential pursuit. The market for Hill is “fertile,” according to one source, because he is young and can play three positions — power forward, small forward and shooting guard — and that a number of teams plan to chase him once July 1 hits.

Also, Hill won’t come cheap. The Tribune has learned that the former Arizona star is seeking anywhere between $9 and $13 million a year, and there are multiple teams willing to meet that number. The money isn’t much of a hurdle for the Jazz, though, as they are far under the salary cap floor.

He also mentioned he doesn't think George Hill will be renegotiated, which makes me really sad.

So... Solomon Hill for 12-13 Mill per? Anyone excited about that?
