What's new

Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

He didn't say that hill will walk. He said that is one of the options.
The other option is that we have to overpay him which would maybe mean that we can't afford some of our other core guys.

Both options suck imo
Yep. Thanks for the explanation. If he's not signing an extension, it means he wants more and Jazz can't throw money into the year(s) they have cap space. Just don't have enough money to keep high- priced backups if Jazz are planning to re-sign the current starting 5. I already figure Burks will be a casualty. And maybe a choice will have to be made between Lyles and Favors. That's one of the reasons I've been in the trade Hayward camp: $30m is going to really hurt once Hood, Exum and Gobert all come off their rookie deals and Favors likely gets $20m+.

The other option, of course, is simply pinch pennies this offseason, kick booty next year, and chase legit max free agents next offseason.

DL probably talking to Trevor Booker right now. I knew this would happen. That's why a lot of us said the time to get a very good FA was two years ago. Would have been under the old cap and a 4 yr deal would have expired right in line with Utah needing cap/tax space.

Lmfao. You need to change your user name to Eeyore.

Ryan Kelly anyone ?? He's listed at 100 of the top 100 FA's.Jazz might have a chance.....

I don't know if you noticed, but when the guy wasn't injured playing on one of the worst teams ever to be put on an NBA court in the 15-16 Lakers, he couldn't even scrape minutes. NO THANKS

Why not offer Dudley 2 years 25/27 million... He gets about what he'd get for the 3 year deal. It'd be tough for us to go 3 years with him.

I agree so much.

Maybe I'm confused on this Dudley stuff. The report was Brooklyn had offered 2yr/18M. I took this to mean 18M/year, but some of the discussion here seems to be about 18M over two years.

I can't imagine that Dudley's only fetching 9M/year.

Actually either scenario would seem a bit surprising. But if the negotiation is to surpass $9M/year, wouldn't the Jazz easily go for that?
