Well coaches and media who watch the game must not be as smart as you since they all have Teague over Hill.
Which is why the 30 year old Hill is a perfect fit. He is very similar to what Exum can become. It will create continuity. Exum might not take over for another 4 or 5 years. That's ok. He will still only be about Hoods age and will hopefully have loads of playoff experience. This is how you win now and build something that will last.
Cappy called this. Cappy like.
Now I just need to look up my posts in the draft thread where I predicted the pick would be traded and I hoped it was for Hill.

You're so cool buddy. We are 3-2 and on our way to win our first title. We are the Cubs. Lets get excited like everybody in Chitown. Awesome.
Or realize that we look good and Hill fits. We hope he stays for a reasonable price but we don't know that yet. We hope Exum is a future star but we don't know that yet. We hope we make the playoffs as a decent seed but we don't know that yet.
What good comes from being dicks to guys who are rooting for the same team? Is your life really that sad or **** really that tiny that you search for such small, meaningless victories?

oh c'mon dude, don't be so precious ! Just man up and be big enough to say you were wrong and admit you really didn't know what the living heck you were talking about !! You might even get some brownie points and respect if you did instead of sounding like an uptight sooky la la sore loser Cheers !!
8 PPG, shooting lights out, man. 7% from 3, 22% overall.
I'm on board with this trade, even if the Jazz don't get anything else abck. Although initially I was of the "Why didn't we get Teague?" camp, a closer look at the stats makes the Teague vs. Hill comparison much more of a wash than I had initially thought.
We'll see how this formats. From https://www.foxsports.com/nba/stats...&pos=0&team=0&qual=1&sortOrder=0&opp=0&page=2
Code:ADVANCED GP GS MPG USG% OFF RTG DEF RTG TS% eFG% FT RATE 3FG TEND OFF REB% DEF REB% REB% AST% STL% BLK% TO% Teague, Jeff ATL 79 78 28.5 26.6 105.4 104.0 .551 .495 31.6 27.8 1.6 8.6 5.2 34.2% 2.1% 0.8% 16.2% Hill, George IND 74 73 34.1 15.9 111.8 105.5 .555 .528 20.3 42.5 2.5 10.3 6.5 15.6% 1.6% 0.5% 11.1%
Defensive rating is a wash. Offensive rating is very much in Hill's favor. Oddly, based on a different stat someone posted earlier in the thread, offensive rating was a wash and defensive rating was very much in Hill's favor. Hill has a much lower FT rate, which is bad.
Specific points in Hill's favor
Hill has a much higher 3 pt tendency, which is one of the things this Jazz team needs most.
Hill has a much lower TO %.
Hill has a much lower usage rate, which may be good.
Hill has a much lower TO %.
Specific points in Teague's favor
Hill has a much lower assist %.
Hill has significantly lower points per game (12.1 vs 15.7), which is bad... but which undoubtedly comes directly from his much lower usage rate.
Hill has a much lower FT rate.
Hill is two years older than Teague.
Points in no one's favor
3 pt % is a wash (not shown in those stats, but was 40.8% for Hill vs. 40% for Teague).
So overall, it seems that the two players are much more evenly matched than I initially felt.
Couple that with the statement from Hill's agent that he wants to re-sign in Utah, which I have to think he told the Jazz FO before the trade was finalized, and it looks like we got a darn good player on our roster who won't just be a one year rental, for the price of a 12 pick in a somewhat "meh" draft.
Edit:
P.S. Also, Hill is apparently friends with Hayward, so locker-room chemistry should be good, and as others have mentioned that may well help a bit in re-signing Hayward next year.
Seems pretty level headed.
This trade is absolutely asinine, Very disappointed. Trey Burke status. 100% certainty that years down the line this will look foolish.
This move doesn't make Utah a threat to the top teams in the west. This is a move to appease the fanbase, baby steps type ****.
No way is this anywhere near maximum extracted value for the pick either.. This reeks of Dennis Lindsey playing favorites..
Ya the Jazz should've maxed out Harrison Barnes instead.
Imagine how bad this trade is going to look if George Hill gets injured.
this is terribly risky IMO.
Does anyone actually believe that George Hill makes them a threat in the west? LOL
Look at how ****ing spot on I was. I'm embarrassed to bump this ****.
?
Yes, it was such a disaster that Utah won 51 games, won a 1st round playoff series and a game 7 on the road, and then lost to quite possibly the greatest basketball team ever assembled. Man what a mess that trade was!
Does anyone care more than PG_AB about random and fairly broad predictions made in the past?
Congrats, man. Except that Hill was great when available and helped Utah get to the playoffs and then win in the first round—while injured.
I'll take the #3 and #16 for Hayward, Max Harrison Barnes, run the offense thru Hood. And I wouldn't do this deal for 12.. There'd still be $$ to sign Conley or another max player.
The end result of next season is the same ---- the Jazz lose.. except the team is much younger 3 new rookies to develop and they'll have a btter chance to land a top pick in a better draft.. and they wont be on the hook to pay Hayward 30,000,000..
I have patience though.. To me this move signals the Jazz are choosing to take baby steps.. When I gamble, I like to go big (like the D-Will to NJ trade)
This trade is Tyson Chandler to the Knicks status IMO.
