Gobert update thread

I hope Gobert takes his time in returning. Memo rushed back from an injury because it was the playoffs and ruptured his Achilles. It basically ended his career.

As much as we need Gobert to advance in the playoffs, it's not worth risking further injury.

I hope they make sure he is absolutely stable before he comes back.

Memo played with ligament damage. Rudy has no ligament damage. The two instances aren't really comparable in any way. The only real danger to lasting injury is Rudy injuring himself in another way because he has to play differently because of his bone bruise. That is not an insignificant risk, granted. . .

I'm not worried about his Achilles. I'm worried that knee pain will cause him to change his stride (compensate) and will cause stress on other parts of his body, potentially leading to other injuries.

I could be off base in this assessment. I'm not a doctor of a physical therapist. I hope the Jazz take these things into consideration before letting him return to the floor. I also hope Jazz fans realize returning from an injury isn't about being macho.

NAOS's comment about age is a fair point. But if you dig a little further back in Jazz history you will remember that a young Carlos Boozer came back early from an injury only to re-injure himself (I think it was the 05 season, maybe 04). He never came back form an injury early every again.

***I promise I'll never compare Rudy to Boozer again. I feel dirty doing it!***

Yep, that is the real danger, especially as so much of Rudy's game is made up of effort and athleticism. I don't see him playing at 75% to compensate for being hobbled. He doesn't have that "playing within himself" gear. I doubt they will give him the "shot of cortisone" treatment the NBA ran back in the 90's for stuff like this. But if anyone is gonna play with pain, Rudy is the guy. The Clippers are so mentally weak that even just announcing him in the starting lineup may be enough to break them.

Edit:FLC beat me to it.

Article says he is "game to game". Also mentions healing could "take some time".

Screw it! Jazz should add a priest, rabbi, and bishop to their medical staff and have a team prayer before every practice and game. Hell, erect a shrine to Buddha in the locker room and make an assistant coach carry a copy of the Koran to the game.

And for hell sake, destroy all of those stupid bobble head dolls of our players; I'm sure someone is using them for pincushions.

I'm gonna be rocking my Gobert jersey for Friday's game. He better be back by then!

Need good news from Gobert. We stole a game without him, we can do one more. But not the series. Gonna be really hard. I hope he will get back latest by 4th game.

**** that. We can win without him. Each man matters.

I really hope he's not acting to appear better when in actuality he's in pain. If he does that and tries to play ala Booby Miles, and gets hurt worse, I'll be so saddened.

Rudy, if you read this site, please be smart. We ain't winning it all this year anyway. Take it a day at a time and then some.
