Ok, I watched Knight in the tourney and while he made some clutch shots and I think he'll be pretty good I just didn't see anything amazing. Does someone want to enlighten me?
I could be totally wrong and Knight might become the next Michael Jordan but I really doubt it. Even if he just becomes a pretty good PG like say, Jameer Nelson, I think I'd rather take a chance on a guy at a different position. I mean, like OGat said - the Jazz already have Harris. And to those that want Knight because he's a combo guard and can play the 2 - do we really want a 6'3" SG taking minutes from 6'8" Hayward? ...I mean size is pretty awesome.
I do think that the Jazz get more value in drafting size rather than drafting a PG that looks like he MIGHT be better than Harris. It could turn out horribly, sure. Kanter could be the second coming of Borschardt. But he could also be a more physical Dirk Nowitzki. That quite a range I know but we're gambling here and I'd rather take that gamble (or a less risky one in Bismack) than draft a pretty good, yet superfluous, PG.
AND I do adhere to the POV that you don't need a top tier PG to win a title, so I'm not inclined to waste a high draft pick on one unless it's a slam dunk. (when the Jazz win the 1st pick we'll start debating the Kyrie conundrum).
ALSO, the Jazz have draft picks in 2012 and it seems like there are always decent PGs if we wanna use a pick on one then. Again, Harris is the starter next year.
AND ONE MORE THING - the Jazz are going to draft Fredette this year. There's no getting around that (unless of course the Jazz win the lottery etc). So this next year the Jazz can evaluate him and see if he will become the next Nash or House. And that information will help them determine who to draft in 2012. Drafting Knight this year just doesn't seem a wise move to me.
