Woj: Joe Ingles is finalizing deal to return to the Utah Jazz

colton, cmon... you say that like you know. You don't.

Tony Jones reported that Ingles didn't receive any offers and next thing you know he re-signs here.

Orlando might very well have offered him $15M a year if given the chance but they didn't.

Look, we all know Rudy wanted to be here and was willing to take a discount. Knowing that, it's highly reasonable to conclude that his market was higher than what he signed for.

I don't understand why this is so difficult to follow.

Dude your reading comprehension sucks. We're discussing the bet between Cy and Colton. Ingles didn't get offered a $15M per year contract.

*Joe?

One can reasonably conclude that he would have if he hadn't signed right away. Try to use logic here and there.

There is a chance that the available monies would have run dry. I think that'll happen this time around. But I think it's pretty damn safe to say that Ingles could have received offers in the 15 to 16 range. This deal was expedited and a couple of million were shaved off because DL has a plan.

No ****. That's what I said if you could read. They most likely would have but they didn't. The bet was he would receive an offer for that but he didn't. Would he have if he waited? Probably.

An Orlando reporter is disputing the Washington Post article. He says it was completely false and likely something that came out of Ingles' camp to drive his price up. Furthermore, he shows all the transactions Orlando would have had to make in order to extend an offer. Remember, a team HAS to have the cap room when the offer is made and in regards to a restricted FA, has to keep that room open until the other team matches or declines.

The Magic could generate up to $14.6 million in cap space this summer if they make a series of procedural moves. To reach that figure, the team would have to renounce its own free agents: Jeff Green, Jodie Meeks and Damjan Rudez.

Orlando would have to waive point guard C.J. Watson and stretch his $1 million in guaranteed salary over the next three seasons.

And the Magic also would have to waive swingmen Patricio Garino and Marcus Georges-Hunt.
Sounds like Orlando a) couldn't even reach $15M and b) would have to renounce everything not tied down to the bridge. All for a player they might not get (Utah could match).

I'm fine with $13 million a year. I was balking at $15, and would have preferred $11. But $13 is not terrible. It helps that I value the intangibles he brings to the team probably more than most.

And the main intangible being that he's Hayward's BFF and will most likely be at the airport to greet him on Sunday night or Monday am.

Heck, if I were Lindsey, I'd fly Ingles to Boston and have him return on the flight to SLC with him.

Jazz have done a good job collecting guys who WANT to be in Utah. That only gets better and better and better. I'm going to guess that DL signs a veteran ring chaser to a minimum contract this year that will surprise a lot of people.
I honestly believe Burks wants to be in utah too.

The real question here, is what kind of avatar is Cy going to make Colton present. I hope it's not some dumb Mississippi college crap. I think it should be like a Bikini girl picture that normally makes him and Jason nervous around here.

Something barely legal.
Colton won the bet doe

CY did chicken out, from what I remember.:p

Still, the bet wasn't what he would sign for. It was whether or not someone would offer him 15 million or more.

I think you lost that in a big way. IMO, Utah gives him this deal on the first day, knowing they are getting a break. Without other info, you get off on a technicality. No doubt in my mind he get's an offer of 15 per and maybe more. No point in going after a UFA with an offer that isn't risky.
Dude, the bet was black and white. No gray area.
Ingles never got a 15 million dollar offer, regardless of the reason.

Wow a home town discount from our 3rd best player last year?
I think hill and JJ (and obviously hayward and rudy) were both better than him last year.

That's not how bets work.

I was in Vegas last year and made a $1,000 bet on a game between the Bulls and the celtics. Celtics were favored 4 points. I took the Bulls.
Bulls were down by 6 with 5 seconds left. Snell made a 3 pointer to get the Bulls within 3 so I would win my bet.

They reviewed it and saw that his toe was on the line so the Bulls lost by 4.

No worries though cause I just went to the casino and explained to them that it's reasonable to assume that he would have still made the 3 if his toe would have been behind the line. So it's reasonable to say that the Bulls could have only lost by 3 points rather than 4.

I won the bet!

I think Hill could have been if he was healthy, he was arguably our best player at times last season, especially early. But I cant put a guy that played 49 games and was hobbled in the playoffs and missed games our 3rd best. I think JJ was for a couple games here and there but not across the season. He brought scoring and leadership but I think Ingles brought a lot more. In the playoffs Ingles was our best defender next to Gobert(Maybe our best if you consider Gobert missed games and was hurt after that) and our most versatile defender. He was our best three point shooter all season. He filled a lot of different positions and roles for this team. I understand the argument for Hill, Hood or JJ but I still would pick Ingles from last season as our 3rd best player.
