Exum Update

Is there anybody out there who hopes Exum returns too early or before he's ready?

I always thinks it adds to the drama of the game when a player comes back early. Every time he drives to the rim it would become must see TV.

Also, there is something special about watching a guy play when he is not in game shape. It reminds me of simpler times, like when Shaq played for the Celtics.

In other words, no.

Yeah I think so. In a way it is the same principle as giving a guy an extension for above his current production value. You bank on development when you are dealing with young players. Maybe saying the entire season is a stretch, but he should have been very slow to eliminate a stable role for Exum. I don't think Exum's play warranted all the volatility in his PT. I think that volatility hurt him as a young player, and made him more hesitant to make mistakes if anything. I don't think the decision had anything to do with Exum's development which is why I think it was handled badly.

Agreed.
I put it like this. If you have two players who suck and you have to play one of them then play the one who has more upside and will be around longer.

Man... reading this thread makes me think of how pissed I was at TJ Warren. I mean, I probably don't need to rehash this but Dante worked so hard in the offseason to come back and make a leap but TJ totally squandered that with just a plain dumb decision to go for a block on that play. Had no chance. It was reckless. Players don't be reckless like that, especially in a freakin preseason game

If you see the tweet by Andy Larsen about Exum practising pre the Memphis game..... (don't watch the 44 second vid where he goes 1/6 unguarded :) )

Did the Jazz hired Mountain to be a decoy on defense? Who the heck is this bearded monster?

I heard someone say, as if it was a fact, that Exum was going to play on Friday. Is this true? If not, how far away is he?
Last I heard the projection is still mid-march. Unless I missed something, they still haven't cleared him for contact in practice, so I will be pretty shocked if he is playing within the next two weeks.

It would seem this would be a good use of the Stars. Get X in basketball shape and the feel of actually competing albeit at a lower level.

God I hope not. His injuries have all come from games that mean nothing (national team friendly and preseason). Just let him run and work his way back into shape. He should be in reasonable condition anyway

I saw that too. Got my hopes up. Wtf

Saw where?
I saw it too, maybe in the Rockets game thread or the playoff bus thread. Someone just said "Exum will be back on Friday, blah blah blah..." like it was out there and everyone knew it.

The only thing that’ll get him in game shape is playing in NBA games, the G league wouldn’t do anything for him.

He still has to be cleared for contact drills first, doubt he’ll be back for a few weeks unless that’s happened and they’ve kept it quiet which I doubt

He was a partial participant in practice. What that means exactly, I don’t now.
