With the 21st pick in the NBA draft teams normally get crap. One of the reasons i was excited this year was the depth. I truly believe and still do that this was a deep draft. I think the jazz took the safe pick when they should have gambled on potential. I think my frustration with the Allen pick is my belief that 3 players selected after Allen will eventually be much better than him.

So that i can be fairly judged in later years the 3 players i would have chosen before Allen are:
1. Elie Okobo (super high ceiling but he could also flop hard)
2. Anfernee Simons (same)
3. Chandler Hutchinson (shooter and athlete).

At 21 i would have risked the flop for a chance at greatness. I DONT think Allen is going to flop, but i just dont see the potential upside that I do with my choices.

OK, now you have to pick one, just like the Jazz did. Which one of these will be better than Allen?

You jumped to a lot of conclusions in that spiel. If you want to know why I think that just ask, dont run your own narrative.

All 3 will eventually be better than Allen. I put them in the order i liked so if i was drafting I would have taken Okobo. Now at least i can be judged harshly if Okobo sucks.

Okobo is irrelevant. You'll be judged harshly because you cant see the obvious talent, intangibles and love of the game this kis has and even worse you doubt DL.

I did not say anything about Allen's love for the game, his talent or his intangibles. I just think he is the safe pick and i would have swung for the fences. Second guessing DL is accurate. I think he made the wrong choice. Time will tell.
 
Listening to the Givony pod... talking about KBD... said Indiana was going to take him if Holiday was gone... he fell 25 more picks... how did we (or Indiana or another team) let this guy slide that far? No medical issue...

DL said in his interview we had a couple guys we passed that gave us heartburn but you can only marry one... that isn't true... you can marry more than that.
 
Listening to DL talk and I get the allen pick more now... I think he could have had Allen rated lower than Okobo or even dead even and he would have taken Allen everytime if it was close. They have the Quin and Lang connection and have all the non-basketball info from really reliable resources, so its so much easier to make that call. I get it...

I wish we had gone and gotten KBD and I would be officially geeked about the draft, but a little sad Okobo was passed.
