Training Camp Notes

Fingers crossed
I think he may get there but it would be like Walker did. Produce well and become a starter later in the year. When you have game numbers and film it’s easier to see who is better… in practice they would really have to stand out imo.

Key won’t be a starter yet. No chance. Hardy wants to win. He ain’t gonna put a 19-year-old kid out there to start or give him big minutes yet. Has to learn the ropes first, defense, reads, decisions, understanding what’s going on, where to be on the floor, knowing the calls, other teams’ players etc. It’s a lot of stuff. But he looks like a real deal to me. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops.

One interesting thing for me is that as a young team we’ve got a lot internal growth and many players should be better than last season.

John Collins is a question mark to me. On paper he doesn’t fit well. But he’s got a lot of nice tools and is known to be a workhorse. If he adapts, starts passing the ball, and gets the 3-ball going, our tall frontcourt could be a headache for a lot of teams.

Can you provide some shooting percentage stats that show this poor shooting from dunn and sexton?
Percentages are only a portion of spacing. You have to be a willing shooter with a quick release. Neither which applies to Sexton/Dunn.

Maybe it's something Sexton worked on, but he has a slow shot and he hesitates to take open looks.

What if Jordan Clarkson is just taking it easy during training camp, since he played all summer, and Keyonte is considered JC's understudy... I'd find it hard to believe that Clarkson is getting paid $23M to come off the bench behind a rookie. I'd find it easier to believe that the Jazz want to give Keyonte reps during camp, since this is his best chance to get acclimated. Keyonte should be rotational, but I don't think he's the starter until the Jazz trade Clarkson.

He's only getting paid that amount this year then it drops back down . Maybe the Jazz gave him that pay raise when it wasn't available on the market because they appreciate his flexibility. Not like Clarkson has to prove himself for his next contract at this point.

Not to mention it was cap space we used. It’s not like we went over the cap to do it.

You used the term good shooter. Both sexton and dunn were good shooters last year.

Pretty sure JC found the market a bit lower than he'd have liked and we could make it a bargain deal. Its a marriage of convenience for now... we are both happy in the marriage but I doubt he finishes that deal on the Jazz. We retained/improved the asset and he got his bag.

Eh, who knows. He and Ryan are apparently BFFs. This is conjecture, but pretty sure JC golfs with Ryan in exchange for dressing up in Johnny Depp outfits and talking **** on Amber Heard every Saturday.

I would love nothing more than Key to end the season as the starter, but I will be floored if it’s not JC to start the season.

I think Ryan has dudes he likes for sure but its clear he is letting Ainge run ****. So if the price hadn't been right then the Black Pearl would have sailed to different seas.
