Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Fit is the same as last year. The only player truly worth considering is Lauri, and he can play with anyone. Walker is arguable given his play, but there's not really a center at the top. Ain't no way I'm having any other player on the roster influence my decision.

Current comps:

Dylan Harper: Harden without a jumpshot (right now)
Cooper Flagg: More athletic Scottie Barnes (with hopefully a better jumpshot but tbd)
Demin: Josh Giddey with better shooting
Ace: MPJ

I guess let me clarify that players that raise the play of those around them are what vault teams up the tiers. I'm a little worried Harper and Bailey are heavy on empty calories and that Flagg might just not be all that great (his best attribute is that he's ~a year younger than everyone else, his play never jumps off the screen to me).

If Egor just isn't very good then he just isn't very good. But giant guards have game-breaking power when they're great. And on a team with no one that reliably creates good looks for others and a bunch of players that live off ball, it's all the more floor-raising. But yes, we should probably assume at this point that we're starting with a blank slate.

Flagg is more of a helpside blocker. Those highlight blocks come and go. But they look awesome on Youtube, so people remember them and Flagg gets a reputation as a swat expert.

He's not like Kessler.
no. he put up huge block numbers in HS and international play. he was a legit shot blocking "expert" as you say. i think he's underwhelming at this level because his length and athleticism are doing him no favors. we won't know until the combine, but i hope nobody is surprised when he measures 6'8" with a 6'10" WS.

Well said on this paragraph.

The thing that made me love Demin was after one of the first games and he is being interviewed about a pass to traore. He said something like I saw my big man running the floor and new I had to reward him.

I just love that comment. The idea of a PG rewarding players for playing hard makes everyone better.

Yeah, he moves like Anthony Davis (which is to say, a pretty mobile PF and an extremely mobile C), but unfortunately is just way smaller than Anthony Davis and can't block shots or play center like Davis because of that.

Scottie Barnes as a comparison is probably reasonable. If he gets to like 37% on off the dribble threes, he can still make some first team all-NBA teams.

Can he get to Kawhi level? Ehhhhhhh, Flagg just isn't a very fluid athlete for his size.

I wouldn't disagree with anything you said here, but I would say that fits under "how good is this player" (BPA) and not for fit. "Fit" is a made up term so need to fuss about it, but what I mean by fit are things that are specific to the Jazz like the existing roster and maybe the existing coach/system. The things you mentioned are important, but they apply universally and any team would be asking those questions. For the Jazz, I don't think the existing conditions warrant any special considerations as to who they draft. For example, if we were very certain about Keyonte I think it would be reasonable to think about how each player fits next to him. I don't find that to be the case and agree that we should be drafting with a blank slate.
