Following potential 2012 draftees

Actually the jazz can get a pure pg via trade too. Augustin and Calderon are good passing pgs. I say you take BPA. Marshall is not worthy of a lottery pick. Q miller IMHO is best player for the jazz to draft hands down.

The second pick if we have one will depend what happens come the trade deadline. I would love to see Marvin Williams as a jazz man. Add on Calderon and the draft the best big like one of the zellers.

Future of the jazz would look like this

Calderon, Watson, machado
Hayward, burks
Williams, miller
Millsap, Evans
Favors, kanter, zeller

That is a team I can live with.
I do however see the value in trading for a proven pg, then go after other players to maximize team depth but Zeller?

Zeller was hypothetical. I would want best big available. My point about Calderon is he is better then Marshall and we would have to use a pick in him.

I am glad that they were just fillers for the point you were trying to make. Neither Zeller interests me right now.

I can live with trading for a pg so we don't have to use one in the draft for a pg, but if we go that route I want a pg that hasn't or is just entering their prime. Is Conley a reasonable trade option for the Jazz?

Haha, I did the same thing a few posts above. Also, what the Marshall swallowers keep failing to address is his lack of explosiveness, poor shooting, and defensive inferiority ... all in one person. I get sick of hearing things like, "Rondo can't shoot either." ... "Wall can't shoot." ... "Kidd" .. are you serious??

All of these guys (above) are fast as hell and can get into the lane ..

I hate that most think I'm down on Marshall. It's just that I'm seeing the same things it seems scouts are seeing. It's like, yes, he can pass, no question .. what else ya' got? Oh, nothing? Okay, that's worth about a 16-20 pick in the draft. They're seeing more potential in a lot more guys to do more than just one thing for their team.

This is exactly how I feel. Exactly. Guys who have only one skill are nothing but role players in the NBA...we can't take Marshall in the lottery and expect it to be a good pick.

I've never used Kid or Wall as examples for Marshall. I've never sidestepped his lack of shooting or athletic ability. What I have always said is his intangibles and elite passing skills and elite court awareness, and b-ball IQ are special, which will allow him to adjust. His savvy and heady play will help him find ways to be an affective playmaker in setting up his teammates. People that don't want Marshall over look those attributes because all they see is the fact that he can't shoot and isn't as explosive as some other pg's.

To get my point across, let's look at Cj Miles, good ball handler good athlete, contrary to popular belief he is a good shooter with good form, and can get off a good shot almost when ever he wants. Cj has all the skills to be an all-star there's just one thing holding him back. Yes you guessed it his brain. Cj is as dumb as a rock he's weak minded, which is why it appears that he can't shoot. Marshall has no problems in this department.

I see more to Marshall then just being a great passer and a bad shooter with little explosion.

I'm not saying he will be as good as Nash or kid or Stockton. For the record I know Stockton and Nash could shoot but they weren't explosive athletes.

Now I'd like to bring up another player. Mark Jackson great passer and court vision and all-round heady player no athletic explosion and not a good shooter. Love him or hate him he is second all-time in assists and very important to those Knicks teams of the past. Jackson is who comes to mind when I think of Marshall.

PKM as much as you remind pro Marshall People to not overlook his physical makeup I'm reminding you and everyone else don't discount his mental makeup. A player can have all the talent in the world if he's as dumb as rocks that talent isn't going to get him anywhere.

^^^ I agree with everything you said. I have said those exact same things. Bottom line for me is I think both QMiller and Rivers will be better AND more valuable in the NBA. Just like when people were saying Rondo's lack of shot would keep him from being an elite NBA PG (when he was in college) and I said he'd be a better pro than collegiate player ... I think Marshal will be a BETTER pro than college player. I just think he's overpriced if selected in the lottery.

What I really want, if we have two picks, is to take BSFA with the first pick (as long as it's not #1 or #2) and then BPA with the 2nd. We're not going to be able to keep all the youngsters, long term, anyway. The BPA's, therefore, and as most always, take priority.

When you tell me how Kendall Marshall is different than Marcus Williams from UConn (also a very smart player) I'll start listening to you.

They are not the same person. Tell me the difference between Kwame Brown and Tyson Chandler coming out of HS.

Fair enough. Just curious, would you rather see the jazz draft Rivers as a pg or sg?

@PKM

Before the season started, I asked you what kind of numbers you thought everyone on Kentucky would put up, and I think you were pretty close. So here's a follow up question: if Kanter had been able to play, what do you think he would have averaged?
