Twitter feeds leading up to the draft

Chris Vernon: They need a documentary on this workout. This little white dude from Alabama-Huntsville (Josh Margette) is COOKING Marquis Teague

He means Josh Magette, and with that tweet the Jazz's secret is out of the bag.

**** it. Draft Maggs in the 2nd, let him stay with Stockton all this summer and next training Rocky IV style, and between now and November of 2013, he'll have had 16 months to kill the weight room as well and get up to 175-180.

This SG/SF debate may be the stupidest one I've seen here yet. Jalen Rose explained it best. Positions are meaningless. They were started to help idiots understand the game. According to most of you, Lebron is a SF, right? Well then what was he playing during the finals? Heck what has he been playing the past few seasons?

You know who else is a "SG/SF" according to DX?

Austin Rivers. Great argument, Cyrone. Clearly DraftExpress should be the ultimate determiner as to what position a player is; not using your eyes to see what opposing SGs do to him if he's ever matched up against them.

No, they have him listed as a SG. It then says "Possible: SG/SF". Budinger says "NBA:SG/SF". And yes, I have seen Budinger play. He is a SG. He isn't a good defensive player anywhere you put him.

Carlos Boozer couldn't defend a goddamned PF to save his life, we still called him a PF.

I just bring up DX because somone agrees with me. ESPN and other sites have him listed as what Houston has him playing more out of necessity than actual fit, because they have Courtney Lee and Kevin Martin playing SG.

Agreed. I'm just saying his offensive game fits the mold of what you would think of a traditional SG, which is what Minnesota was looking for.

What is up with this two days before the draft?

We are doing some maintenance today and the site will be taken offline periodically throughout the afternoon (US time). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Okay, so you're willing to place utmost trust in s source that really thinks its possible for Rivers to play as an SF in the NBA? Thanks for proving my point as to why we should not place a considerable amount of stock into what "DraftExpress" thinks a player can play as in the NBA

Budinger says "NBA:SG/SF". And yes, I have seen Budinger play. He is a SG. He isn't a good defensive player anywhere you put him.

If you watched Rockets games well, you would have realized how much worse he was at defending SGs than SFs. Go to a Rockets forum and ask, they'll tell you the same thing Im telling you right now.

Yes, but he was still better at guarding PFs than any other position. What silly remark to bring up

The necessity being the fact that he cannot defend a 2. Kevin Martin was out for 26 games, and Budinger still didn't play as a SG to any great extent.

And we are just saying that Minnesota just traded a potentially solid contributor away for Kyle Korver-lite.

You make fun of me for using DX as something to backup my claims, but say CLUTCHFANZ, the gathering place for the fattest idiots on the planet, is a better source for information?

I usually check RealGM for interesting tidbits from Rockets fan bases, but Im sure there are pearls of wisdom to be had from even Clutchfans as well. I personally think that many posters on this board know much more about our Jazz team than some hack on DraftExpress, personally. Im sure the same can be found in every fan base. Yes, even Clutchfans. They follow their team every game of the season, which is why something of this nature would be very obvious for them to address.

Can Korver do that in transition? You pair an athletic swingman like Budinger with Rubio, you are going to get productive scoring in transition. You add in Love for double teams, you are getting a spot up shooter. He is a good fit for the team and is already a productive player. The Wolves know what they need for their team to get into the playoffs and they got it. The player they needed didn't project to be available when they picked (a guy like Ross, who isn't a sure thing either way). They got a good role player in Budinger, but nah, their fans should cry because they won't get Quincy Miller, who will be a giant bust and doesn't fit the team.

And then what? Al Jefferson got us to the playoffs, and we saw what happened when other teams utilized his lack of defense. Opposing SFs, SGs, whatever will have absolute field-days against him. Can he put up a lot of points? Yeah? Well so can CJ Miles. The Wolves would be much better off aiming for a 2 who can hit the shot at a good clip (which he can) but also be a competent defender. Instead, they have added yet another defensive sieve to their lineup. Yes, they might make the playoffs, but you will never be a contender with Chase Budinger as your starting 2 (rofl). Instead of going BPA and possibly trading a player like Sullinger to swap him for a good 2, you have just created another liability. So, the Wolves will still have to be searching for a better 2 if they ever want to be western conference contenders.

So if you had a lottery pick, would you trade it for Al Jefferson and his albatross contract?

If I need a 20/10 big man who has not hit his prime, who has improved his game, Absolutely! If we did not have Favors waiting I think the opinion of Jefferson would be different around here.
