Summer League: Utah vs Detroit Mon. July 9th 1:00 MT

Burks started off poorly with two charges and that looked like it hurt his rhythm. I will chalk it up to as a bad game, he will do better the rest of the League.

OK guys, I'm quiting the Jazz fanhood and leaving the board. Kanter is a bust. I can't post anymore with this embarrassing kid playing like this. Feel free to use my username.

Relax bro, no need to overreact at all. It is summer league and surprising players may come out and outshine and versus may be happening. Kanter and Burks will be okay but it is for sure they have got lots of way to go. The most diappointing thing for me is that they have been so weak mentally after dominated. Otherwise, shots always may not come in or it can be their bad day.

C'mon....let's burn this mother to the ground!!!

That was sarcasm man, I know for sure Kanter has a big potential but now, this season, his time on the floor will be very important for him to show something to all of us. He has to prove himself. It's really on his own hands now.

Haha apparently no one could catch it. Sarcasm or not, Jazzfanz are used to it.

Yowzasss, Kanter line is a mess. I know the no need to get worried guys are not worried. Im a bit worried, will wait to see if he gets better before I pass judgement.

Funny thing is that Washington is a historically terrible 3pt shooter, but went 3/3 today. Players have good games and bad games sometmes. Burks and Kanter just had bad games.

When did you play NBA paced games? They are a tad different than playing pickup basketball.

Actually the games i played in didn't have timeouts or free throws to slow it down.... besides playing as hard as you can is playing is hard as you can at any level.

I always gave my all in every game i played in and was usually the one with the ball all the time.

I will say it again: If burks and kanter cant play more than 25 minutes per game for 5 games of SUMMER LEAGUE action then there is a problem. I saw knight play alot minutes tonight so apparently thier coach thinks he will be ok to get big minutes in these games.

Washington was fun to watch at the end. If he makes those FT's Jazz might have been right there at the end. Nice to see Burks attack and finish at the end. He just doesn't play well in the half court sets. Liked Murphy's passing in this game and the fact that he could take his guy off the dribble some. Stockton was our only PG that showed up today. Kanter was bad. Just isn't able to score against really athletic bigs right now. Looks like the Fight to the end moto is still in effect, they didn't give up on it.

You think?
Yes on the "bust" part. That was sarcasm. But when the GM states those guys are going to be featured - and they were - but got dominated by scrubs, then I do think KOC and Corbin HAVE to take a step back and not count on those guys to have major roles. It's one thing to have a bad game here and there in the NBA. It's entirely different to look like just another undrafted rookie in the summer league.

With due respect, Burks clearly showed last season that he can play in this league and potentially play at a high level. We have enough data points on him that I don't think his play in one game in summer league is sufficient to outweigh what we saw last season. (By comparison, does anyone here really think that Kyle Singler's NBA ceiling is higher than Burks', notwithstanding how Singler played compared to Burks in this game?)

The one I'm concerned about is Kanter. I do not want to put too much into this one lousy summer league game, BUT Kanter's play continues to demonstrate what, to me at least, are two of his biggest weakness that were consistently on display last season: (1) absence of go-to move in the low post and (2) inability to finish at the rim. Geez, does anyone get more shots rejected than Kanter?

Best Post in this thread. repped

My bold prediction:

KOC made two phone calls from the stands:
1) To J. Howard's agent offering him a contract
2) To Paul's uncle, begging him to negotiate an extension

Kanter and Burks looked absolutely turrible. Burks still drives and can't finish. Kanter still has hands of stone and is good for a few rebounds and hard fouls, but no offense. It's premature, but it sure looks like the Jazz may have blown those two lottery picks.

I would say you are premature to judge two 20 year olds on the first summer league game. I dont think there is much doubt about that. No way to J Howard. If we go after another wing gots to be someone who can hit a 3.

To be more specific, I'd say Burks was invisible and Kanter sucked a caribou's ***.

The worrying thing about Kanter is that he still continues to carry his bad habits which come from his dominating young/pro-NBA career. He can move faster but he doesn't, he can use the glass better but he goes with two hands openly. He still thinks subconsciously like he's playing against non-athletic, slower and smaller guys. He has strict patterns and he doesn't play and react according to his opponents' reactions. And I hate to even say but he still brings the ball to his knees!

Now, Enes, my boy, if you don't leave this bad habits this season, you're on your own, I will really quit rooting for you!

Kanter does not have big potential whatsoever, except rebounding.
Turks and some Jazzfanz are seriously overrating him.
He will never be a star or even a scorer starter!
Scott Pollard/ Amundson type hustle and rebounding machine, drafted as the 3. pick due to fancy PR campaign.
and this coming from a Turk!

Pretty much exactly how I feel.

I still feel like Kanter's problem is his mental speed, not his physical speed. It still looks like the game is just too fast for him out there and he hesitates when doing everything.
