Summer League: Utah vs Detroit Mon. July 9th 1:00 MT

Reggie Evans could average a double-double if he got 35 minutes a night. The problem is he won't because no team's dumb enough to put him on the floor for that long because he can't do **** else but rebound. Like Kanter.

Reggie Evans doesn't play because he is a complete liability on offense, especially from the FT line. Kanter can hit FT's.

Just for the record, I've never owned an affliction shirt. However, I've also never been in a screamo band like someone on here.

David Locke: Reminder on Kanter - 20 years old - was 2nd youngest player in the NBA last year
Reminder to Locke: And Kanter was schooled today by an 18 year old who hasn't played a single game in the NBA. Hey, but at least Enes can hit about 60% of his FT's compared to Drummond's 30%. So he's got him there.

Warned you before the draft

With due respect, Burks clearly showed last season that he can play in this league and potentially play at a high level. We have enough data points on him that I don't think his play in one game in summer league is sufficient to outweigh what we saw last season. (By comparison, does anyone here really think that Kyle Singler's NBA ceiling is higher than Burks', notwithstanding how Singler played compared to Burks in this game?)

The one I'm concerned about is Kanter. I do not want to put too much into this one lousy summer league game, BUT Kanter's play continues to demonstrate what, to me at least, are two of his biggest weakness that were consistently on display last season: (1) absence of go-to move in the low post and (2) inability to finish at the rim. Geez, does anyone get more shots rejected than Kanter?

I told everyone before Kanter was drafted that he was going to have a lot of shots blocked.

screw all those MMA fanboyz.
I am a judo player and Kickboxer etc.
If you love those chiseled boyz fighting; you, too, should start either BJJ or Judo or MMA, to see how it really feels.
It is not easy at all; but it is when you are drinking beers and eating taco when watching Chael vs. Silva.
BTW Kanter is a bust!

I don't think I've ever seen someone get their shot blocked so much and I don't think I've ever watched a game that had as many missed dunks and airball ft's than the Detroit game today.

Brian T. Smith: Jazz have tried to get ball to Kanter in low post last two plays. He's been unable to gain favorable position on Drummond.

Sam Amico: Jared Sullinger, Andrew Nicholson and even Fab Melo are already better NBA players than Enes Kanter.

Sam Amico: Heck, CJ McCullom is already a better NBA player than Enes Kanter. And CJ is a guard at Lehigh.

Sam Amico: Oh good grief. I'm exaggerating to make a point about Enes Kanter. Please let me know if you took me seriously so I can block you.

Sam Amico: Honestly? I think Kanter will develop into best big man out of last year's draft. Too bad about 2,017 Jazz fans will never get to read that.

If CJ had stayed at Texas he'd only be Sophmore now......

Scratch Cj enter Enes, Scratch Texas insert Kentucky.

ditto
but
I thought a star or good caliber player would show flashes more frequently than Kanter did!
I want him to succeed but I am not holding my breath.
If I were a homer, then it would have been for Ersan Ilyasova of Bucks.

I am sick and tired of Turkish fanz giving a limitless credit for their (our) beloved bball stars.
ECTYA; I am a Turk and I hail from the beautiful city of Eskisehir, where Ilyasova supposedly was born! (cough..Uzbeki ... cough.. stan)

Ersan is my most favorite player in the entire NBA. And he's probably more Turkish than I'm, at least genetically. I just want to say, I think you shouldn't think that low about Kanter. He's an unlucky talent who couldn't play much pro-basketball and find a better suited team for himself.

Come on sir, I'm on the same page with you on the hype about the Turkish players, you remember this thread?

https://jazzfanz.com/showthread.php...-(The-Turkish-Mt-Mutombo)&p=331207#post331207

he was born 40 years old, legend says!
Question is;
can we ever know how old he really was?
:)
I seriously believe, Turks here are overrating their players.
Kanter has still much to prove
and Asik, though reminiscent of Mutombo, is not that good, unfortunately!
That is what I wanted to say!

I kinda agree this, especially for the upcoming generations. They(we the turks) talk about 92-93-95 born players like there are coming perennial nba all-stars, however I've been watching them for two years and they are not that special at all. For instance today some of them played and lost against Serbia 92+ born players, they can't even score 55+ points per game for the last 3 games.

And in the NBA, except for Illyasova, I'm not that high on turkish players, too.

Evans is in Orlando, but not playing?

Brian T. Smith: #UtahJazz's Jeremy Evans was teased by Alec Burks about becoming big time after signing his $5 million contract. To prove he's keeping it real, Evans — who was eating a cafeteria-style dinner with Jazz #SummerLeague team — held up a bag of popcorn.

Actually, that makes perfect sense. If he has agreed in principle with the Jazz on the contract, but hasn't actually signed it yet, then there's no way he should risk injury until the contract is 100% official.

Is there a particular reason Favors isn't participating? He needs it as much as anybody.

(In case you are, Favors and Hayward are with the U.S. Olympic Team's practice squad.)
