This is why I wouldn't be surprised to see Foye start.

Couldn't we go small against scrub SF's?

Bench-
Watson (**shudder)
Foye
Burks
Sap
Kanter

OR:
Foye
Burks
Carrolle (*less of a shudder)
Sap
Kanter

Either way, we have one weakness on the bench but I wouldn't put Marvin or Hayward on the bench because those two can guard starters.

Except nobody realizes that Sap isn't realistically going to come off the bench.
So you might as well start the BIG 3, Hayward, and Mo.

That ensures that both Millsap and Favors will re-sign with the Jazz.
If Hayward or Millsap then lose their spots to Marvin, Foye, or Burks.... then so be their not so good play.

Favors needs to start and needs to get 35 minutes a game. Hayward needs 35, Burks needs 26, and Kanter needs 20 minutes or 6 fouls whichever comes first. Anything less is completely unacceptable.

wow 90% wanted the soft loser black whole called jeffersonian in the line-up

It doesn't matter what we want.
We know Jefferson is going to start anyway, so you might as well put Favors next to him to ensure his horrible defense.
Millsap is a "third wheel border line all-star".
So you just have to start him too, or risk losing him.

It almost sort of matters that Jeff is the best player, easily. Put Favors next to him, awesome 4-5...Screw Sap if he cant handle coming off the bench. We dont "just have to start him to avoid losing him" F that. If he wont come on the bench, dont let the door smack ya. That being said, we are a far better team if he will accept that he isnt a legit starting PF ( for sure not SF, so dont go there) here and do his job off the bench, and NOT for 10 mil per.
I bolded so people will see Im saying we are better with him, but he has to accept his role.

I've hemmed and hawed over what to do with Sap. Finally, I feel comfortable with what you mentioned above.
I'll give Sap a chance to accept it, and to be a force off the bench. Like you say, if he doesn't accept it, maybe it's time to move on.

This also relies on Corbin going along with all of us. :D
I worry he'll make the move too late, after it's completely obvious, and he is pressured to.
I doubt he'll do the right thing, and start Favors after training camp.

My hope:

Starters: Mo, Foye, Hayward, Favors,Jefferson

Second Unit: Tinsely, Burks, Williams, Millsap, Kanter

Reason: we have more depth at the 2 then the 3, so for Hayward/ Burks/ Foye to get minutes. I just can't see Burks/ Foye/Hayward splitting 48 minutes at the 2 (16 minutes each). So Hayward will have to get significant minutes at the 3, leaving Demarre the odd man out.

PS: joining the chorus, we are going to have one helluva second unit, regardless of who gets the start.

Not sure what's gonna happen with Millsap/Favors, but let's hope Favors gets the start.... and Sap accepts the 6th man role.
Even as a 6th man, he'd get just as many if not more minutes than Favors for the time being anyway.
Favors sets the tone for the defense.

The way I see it.... Hayward/Burks/Foye/Carrol are all interchangeable at the 2 and 3 spots, depending on matchups.

Obviously Hayward/Marvin will get the most minutes at first probably... unless Foye or Burks come into camp scorching, and Marvin or Hayward come in lazy.

They will all get significant chances to prove themselves, and the increased talent at the wings will push all 5 wing players to play that much harder.

Definitely more talent in the wings than we've probably had since the 97-98 team.... if maybe ever.

In my opinion, Foye will get minimal minutes at the 3 and Carrol will be minimal minutes at the 2.

This is true.

But at the same time.... say Burks/Foye/Hayward were all getting burned by a Kobe or Wade type, I'd definitely insert Carrol for some defensive pounding.

That's what she said

The 2 and 3 are only interchangeable on offense.
You can't have a guy who's 6' 4" trying to play defense against a SF that's 6'8." That's why the Jazz absolutely had to pick up a player like Marvin Williams.
