This.

FO has 2 big boners on their hands right now (phrasing!):
1) Not trading vets at deadline
2) Marvin Williams trade
one could also argue 3) Corbin, but that is controversial to some and we don't need to add it to drive home the point.
FO has equity built up with getting us these young players, but how they handle this situation from this point forward is soo crucial, and I admittedly am a little worried.
**** no. Best day for the franchise this season is when he left town.It is interesting that once sloan resigned, they asked Phil Johnson to coach and then he said he was resigning so they just went down the list and asked Corbin to coach. It doesn't seem like KOC thinks coachign is all that important, or i guess it is much more likely to say that KOC believes or believed that Corbin was truly head coaching material. Does anyone think Scott Layden would have been a better choice?
I'm not a fan of Scott. He sure didn't do much in NY as a FO guy. Maybe he's a good assistant, taking care of the details.**** no. Best day for the franchise this season is when he left town.
Any guesses on extensions?
I'd think Favors will get ~10m/yr, maybe more. Hayward between 7-10.
Ok, let's lay out the facts:
While the Jazz currently are in a playoff position, the odds of them holding this position is looking less and less likely as time goes on, for a variety of reasons (schedule, surging Lakers, downward spiral).
If the Jazz miss the playoffs, it cannot be argued that the Jazz did not make a horrendous mistake by not trading away Millsap, Jefferson or both. I guess we can consider arguments against this but I imagine they would be hard to truly sufficiently support.
Kanter, Burks and Favors are all surging in their development. Their production is only going up with more minutes, they show no sign of backing down, and bad games are becoming more the exception than the expected. By not trading Millsap or Jefferson in the pursuit of a playoff spot and coming up short, and a coach who seems reluctant to play these young guys in lieu of the vets we are unarguably wasting valuable development minutes on behalf what amounts to essentially failed mercenary type players.
So, *assuming* we miss the playoffs, what can the FO do in your eyes to make up for this?
One thing the FO has going for them is, well, they drafted (or traded for) the C4. So as much as we hate the position our team has been put in we would not have this frustration if we had not drafted (or traded) for legitimately talented and capable young players.
To me, the FO would need to a) admit that they screwed up, b) put Corbin on the hot seat (knowing the Jazz's conservatism I would be satisfied with a slightly warm but steadily warming seat), c) resign neither Paul nor Al, d) Commit fully to Kanter, Favors and Burks as the starters going in to next year.
I wish we could amnesty Marv.
I think that's a pretty good estimation. Considering Hibbert got the max, Favors could command 12-13 which is a scary thought. I think he's worth about $10m though. I think Hayward will come in between $8-10m.

Favors at 12 is not awesome at all. Hayward around 9 is ok, Kanter looks like he will be the best so he might also need a 12,13,14 ... which would not be awesome. Burks around 5-6 would be nice though.
I'm coming around to conclusion that Kanter will be more the beast than Favors. His play with more minutes appears to be more consistent, at least in terms of scoring and rebounding.

I don't think they need absolving. So I guess I disagree with the premise of the question.
I think you are right
On the FO I tend to agree. Coaching staff I think is another matter.
