What's new

jazz predicted second worst team overall

Its the C7 anyways.
Seven? I only count six, unless the new Clark guy is one which is a helluva stretch.

Also, it's rebuilding, not tanking. I guarantee that nobody on the roster including the coaches is going to lose games on purpose. That isn't who they are. Lindsey might have made it easier for Ty to give the young core minutes, but they, coaches and players, will still go out there and try to win games. And you can bet that when teams see 'Jazz' on their schedule, they will stay up late the previous night partying because they figure that it's a gimme game for them. Jazz suprise next year, otherwise the 'core' players aren't that good anyway.

Oh, by the way, who do you want; Jabari or Hayward? Or Wiggins or Favors? If we get a high draft pick next draft, someone's got to go, because you can't pay a 'core seven' players 10 to 13 mil apiece and still field a roster of 13 players. Not without going over the cap and having ticket prices go through the roof.

All players on rookie deal are part of C(insert number). If we add Ayon, we could add him to that because I think we would pick him up on waivers under his 1st contract.

even if the starting 5 is ok, the bench is one of the top 3 worst in the nba. taking beidrins jefferson and rush screams of tanking. that alone will make the jazz lose every close game down the stretch. hayward is our best scorer so we know we will struggle offensively. only bright spot i see is that this teams interior defense will be the best we've seen since pre boozer okur days.

Those players you named won't be playing down the stretch. That point is mute. If everyone can stay healthy we'll be decent. Don't forget that we still play at ESA, one of the best home courts in the league.

So, Evans too then. Hey, might as well throw Clark in there, he's basically a 61 pick in this draft. Still, I am not sure the 10-14 player on the bench is really the core.

Spins my head right round like a record. What do you disregree with tho?

Mainly how the season plays out. I think they win more than a lot of people are predicting. This is a talented, hungry and smart group.

No way we're worse than 6th. The Jazz just won't stoop to the shameless levels that some franchises are willing to go to. From post all star break mystery injuries to actually blowing plays in the fourth quarter, you're going to see it all. I could see the lottery system getting changed after the shenanigans that occur this year.

You guys are crazy. We are going to SUCK this year. We have NOBODY that can take over the game offensively. When it's the second quarter and the other team goes on a 7-0 run, who do we go to to stop it? No one. What does that mean? Most 7-0 runs will turn into 12-0 runs, and makes most games unwinnable.

Orlando and Philly are the only teams with a roster as bad as ours. -the Suns have Bledsoe, sac has Cousins, Charlotte has Gordon and Jefferson. We have no one. We might not have a single player who can consistently get their shot off.

The more I really look at this roster, the more I think we will end up with a great pick next year.

Honest question. If the Jazz will be that bad then do we really want to build around them?

I think we see moderate improvement from Hayward and Favors. I expect Kanter and to a lesser extent Burks to take major steps forward. Burke will get his grove towards the end of the season and Gobert will be a pleasant surprise.

I know the bench suck. But that only goes so far. If the Jazz have this much talent and finish so low then they really don't have talent.

This year depends on whether or not Kanter and Favors can play tough defense while staying out of foul trouble.
That is the biggest factor.

If they can stay out of foul trouble we will not be in the top 10 of the draft.
The sad thing is if we are in the top 5 of the draft with our core playing big minutes than none of us should be excited. Because that would show our young guys are not that talented..
My prediction is we will win 35-40 games.
We are better defensively than last year. And we should have better ball movement. Better rebounding.

Our pick and rolls defense will be incredible.

I am most excited for our players getting to the free throw line.
Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors and Kanter all get to the line a decent amount.
That reason alone will keep us competitive.

The thing is, we have a bunch of solid role players to build around. We have a lot of talent, but we don't have anybody who can just take a game over. Hell, we hardly have anybody who can create their own shot consistently. We're not as good as people think we are.

I couldn't disagree more with the bolded.

There are some poor takes here, imo.

Burke
Burks
Hayward
Favors
Kanter
Rush
Gobert

... Those seven players could be invaluable to a contending team if we nail this draft (two firsts) and kill it in free agency.
We will likely add 5 players just with the above. Those 5 plus these 7 is a potential deadly team.

I'm not saying I would/could do any of this.. but if we;

Got James Young with our pick (a 6'7 SG/SF that is DEADLY from 3)
Got TJ Warren with the GSW pick (a 6'8 SF scorer that is deadly from 3)
Then with our cap space we add a MAX PG, PF, or C .. whichever is the biggest need.

We still have cap space to re-sign those needing to be resigned first.

What I like;
We will have a floor general (either Burke or someone else)
We will have a stable full of 6'7/6'8 shooters on the wings
We will have powerful bigs...

Make sense? Kinda... ?

The Wizards went 16-9 in games with both Beal and Wall in the lineup and 13-44 without one of them on the floor last season.

interesting stat.
every team has good near-star players.even orlando,or suns.
if jazz get a bottom-five record, this won't mean the rebuild failed
