Power Tankings

My tank rank:

1a. Utah
1b. Milwaukee

2. Everyone else.

We only need to worry about Milwaukee, but even then, I am not worried. They are going to get healthy, and then they are going to start playing east teams, which means someone bad has to win. The east teams play like 52 games against each other, so the win totals will definitely be inflated. Milwaukee may have a very strong tank, but they are going to to have the schedule, health and probably pressure to make some trades to get better working against them.

One thing that we consistently underrate as far as the Utah tank is concerned is Mr. DL himself. I feel he is fully committed to tanking, and will do ANYTHING necessary to get the best pick possible. Just on the surface, that means a few things; directing Ty to play Marvin and Jefferson into trade assets, and then probably Brandon Rush as well. While Marvin may actually help the team play better, he will be gone when the schedule gets easy, and tanking really matters. The most comical tank move so far has been the incompetent vets like Lucas, Tinsley and Biedrins.

If the Utah tank really gets in trouble, I think DL might move one or more of our "core 5" assets, probably for a pick or another asset. I see Burks, then Kanter as the most likely to get moved, with Hayward, Burke and Favors becoming more "untouchable" respectively speaking.

Have you seen Jalen's and Bill's tank ranking? Utah is leading in their opinion. I think Utah and Bucks are in their own league and nobody is close to top 2 - you are really wrong about Raptors for example. Even if they trade Lowry with players like Vasquez, Amir, JV, Hansborough, Patterson and DeRozan they are good enough for 8 spot in the east. Unless they blow it completely there should not be in tank rankings at all.

The Jazz talk starts at 11:30. I completely agree with them. We are the best tanking team, and it is a GOOD thing. It will give us a chance at a title. NOTHING ELSE will do that for us.

I haven't thought of that. BUT, I could see him moving Burks for a pick next year. I think he holds onto Kanter until after the lottery. Kanter could be our "move up" guy. Like #4 and Kanter for #2. Or if we are #3 and #1 wants Wiggins, #2 wants Smart, I could see Lindsey moving Kanter and Smart for Parker.

tiered tanking

My tank rank:

1a. Utah
1b. Milwaukee

Very good post, in my opinion Philly should be in the top tier with Jazz/Bucks (75% chance of being in the mix), second tier are the Magic & Cavs (~50%), and third tier, Bobcats, Celtics, Wizards, Kings, Raptors (~25%).

(I'm loosly defining "in the mix" as having a chance at one of the three worst records during the last 1/4 of the season, and deliberately pursuing it.)

That makes sense, I could definitely be on board with that. We could also add Utah to the mix of a 12-14 range draft pick with the Golden State pick.

Too many people's lists are ignoring that Toronto is very aggressively joining the tank and could easily be in the lead by the All-Star break.

We have a 5 game lead on Toronto, with a 7 game lead in the loss column. Toronto is playing for #2 now. Everyone is playing for #2.

No.

I don't think you have paid close attention to tank races down the stretch of NBA seasons.

This is true. The tank is very strong with Toronto. They have a smart young GM, with a crazy name. I am adding them to my tanking master list:

1a. Utah
1b. Milwaukee
2. Toronto

3. Everyone else.

It's hard to judge what the Raptors will be. I can seriously see them being better or worse from that trade. I'm holding off judgement on their tank ranking for the moment.

I might honestly rank Philly above Milwaukee. I see one team that will do whatever it takes to be terrible, and one that is simply terrible on accident.

The top 3 for me are Utah, Milwaukee, and Philly, in no particular order. They're the elite tier.

The only reason you guys should ever consider Toronto in tanking discussion is that they have same level dumb moronic coach as Corbin in D. Casey. Thats it. They play in weak conference and their starting five alone is enough to make playoffs there. As I said unless Masai blows it completely and trades Lowry, DeRozan and Amir Johnson Raptors are not joining the tank.

A little unrelated, but when they talk about Irving not be a leader, all I can do is think about that being Burke's strongest quality. :)

Some elite pieces there bro.
