2011 draft.....

There just isnt enough game tape of Kanter for me. A highlight video of a college scrimmages mean nothing to me. Players arent 100% during those games.

I wouldn't. After watching that video on Kanter that Archie posted, it's clear he's light years ahead of any of the other Euros. Even if he only measures in at 6'10", the dude looks silkier and quicker than Memo shooting from downtown (albeit, college/int'l three), can rebound the hell out of the ball, has some great (and quick) post moves (that he can start from outside and penetrate in as he's got a very good handle for such a big), and is big as hell, and oh yeah, young and not soft like those other Charmin products. Is his defense possibly questionable? Yes. But he's big and physical and we can just about bet his defense is still waaaaay better than any Euro, i.e. Motienjuas. Jones and Knight, as much as I like their potential and athleticism, have nothing special about their game that will necessarily translate to the NBA and are far more flawed as I see it. I am VERY sold on Kanter and holding out hope other teams feel like you.

You don't understand. He's had good games but since he's played so few of them, it doesn't matter. Completely irrelevant material. I mean, lets ignore the fact that post moves and fundamentals translate to the next level much more than athleticism does. I've yet to see anybody have a good reason for not liking Kanter other than knees(unproven) and the fact that they haven't seen him play. Ignore the fact that he's been playing professional basketball in the facking Euroleague since he was 17. If Kanter played at Kentucky this year everybody would be fawning over him. He would have been the best player on that team, yes, better than Knight and Jones. Let us not forget that Kanter dominated a guy that dominated the NCAA field this year. Sure it's one game, but it is a good predictor.

Like it or not, the fact that he hasn't played competitive basketball in more than a year (and during one of the most important times in his life when it comes to development) matters. The fact that he has refused to participate in the Kentucky Combine, another Hoops Summit, and basically anything resembling competition of any kind in front of people is another actual concern. That means he's either scheming in some way, lacking confidence, or both. Kyrie Irving fortified his position by coming back to try to help his team win, even though he didn't have to and could've potentially hurt his stock in the process. Kanter's fear of hurting his draft position has hurt his draft position.

IF he went to school, he might have been in the discussion for #1. But he didn't, and from there legitimate concerns have been born.

With all the love that Leonard has been getting for being a defensive-minded SF, why has no one mentioned Chris Singleton??
2009-2010 ACC defensive player of the year, 6-foot-9 small forward, averaged 13.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks as a junior, not to mention shooting 36.8% from 3 and 46.6% if his 2point attempts. Im afraid Leonard might amount to a Brewer-esque player, another "defensive-specialist" with a weak jumpshot.

I've mentioned him a number of times. I think our best draft would be to strike gold with our own pick, land Irving, and then with #6, if we can't trade up to get Kanter too (which we probably wouldn't be able to do), trade down and land multiple picks. If we could net Singleton and Parsons with those two multiple picks, I'd be ecstatic.

Harris-Irving
Hayward-Miles
Singleton-Parsons-Evans
Jefferson-Millsap
Favors

That core of 10 would be young and sick. The opportunity to then parlay Harris, Jefferson/Millsap, Singleton/Parsons and the GS pick into a truly legit player could get us to turn a corner.

Out of his control. Let's not pretend like he hasn't been practicing or will forget how to play the game or something.

Thank God you're not his agent. "Enes, you have virtually no shot to pass Irving or Williams in the draft and seem locked in for the most part at #3 or 4 now but yeah, go ahead and participate since all that could really happen is a slide if God forbid you're suspect for some odd reason." In short, he has nothing to gain but a lot to lose.

Kyrie Irving fortified his position by coming back to try to help his team win, even though he didn't have to and could've potentially hurt his stock in the process.

Not even remotely a fair analogy.

Kanter's fear of hurting his draft position has hurt his draft position.

I doubt it. If it does, we hit the jackpot.

He went to school. The NCAA ****ed him up the ***.

Kanter was actually a student assistant. Apparently worked a lot with Harrelson. Have to agree seems little chance he will move into the top 2. Almost seems like Toronto is a lock to draft him, but if he did slide we must pick even if he is used in a trade.

Student assistant because he got ****ed by the NCAA. He was a student-athlete up to that point.

Again, I don't want the Jazz to draft him, but I'm loving me some Davis Bertans.

This isn't a highlight video ( a couple of terrible looking shots at first) but if you hang in there for a little bit, I promise you will be impressed with some of the shots this kid is able to pull off. Pure shooter. (start watching at 1:32)

He's skinny and tall and is a dead-eye from outside. Sounds like an albino Durantula. So why don't you want the Jazz to draft him?

I'm not going to line-by-line waste my time, I'll just say most of your points are irrelevant, especially the one where you say "it was out of his control." Playing against other real players in real competition really matters. You have got your head up your *** so far that you're tonging your uvula if you think otherwise.

P.S. I like Kanter. He's the first or second player I'd pick at 3 if it came down to it.

He's not ready to contribute right away and he would be a huge risk with a possible low ceiling. I like him, just no at 6 or 12.

One of the things that scares me is if you watch the summer work out video I posted kanter doesn't look like he took the work out seriously. NBA players are made or destroyed in the off season. Look at fesenko.

So you're much more secure in the guys projected around 6 - 12?
I ask this because it seems the more I learn about the prospects the less secure I am in them. Lotta risk/reward, and I'm seeing near equal risk/reward throughout much of the first round. Guys projected in the 20s might easily be better than guys projected in the top 10.

Not sure if this has been posted, but Terrance Jones will be coming back to Kentucky. Once again, the talent in this draft keeps on declining.

Jones going back to Kentucky shouldn't affect the first of the jazz two picks, but it will change that second pick..I hate to say it, but Jimmer starting to look like more of a possibility.

There were rumors about that he was falling like a stone and may have fallen out of the lottery, and that's why he opted to stay at Kentucky. This may not affect the Jazz at all.
