I was using the word "man" to describe his body, meaning he possesses a stronger body at an early age.
Meh. Maybe a little. But that still doesn't make up for his lack of height, quickness, overall athleticism, and defensive ability(liability).
IMO we have plenty of offense down low.
We need more defense, length, and quickness. People were driving down the lane last year like it was I-15. Al and Millsap can score a lot. But they can't defend a chair. Al is too soft and not athletic enough. While Millsap is just too undersized.
We need someone other than Favors that deters people.
While Kanter may have a nice Memo/Kevin Love like game, how exactly does he improve us? Maybe he scores a little bit more efficiently than Al or Millsap. Or maybe we can unload someone to get something else. So actually, I'm not against drafting Kanter at all.
But I do believe we need to stop being enthralled by all these highlight tapes from one game. Everyone looks good in highlight tapes.
Lets focus on qualities that we need out of players. Intensity, length, quickness, durability, and defense.
I have no doubt in my mind that Kanter looks amazing in euro 3 point shooting contests.
But how's he going to react when Dwight Howard blocks his shot and knocks him on his ***?
Will he defend the paint like Tyson Chandler is doing?
Or with all the length, offensive ability, and culture in the world, will he sit around and pout like Pau Gasol has done in these playoffs?
Many have compared Biyombo to Ben Wallace. A much less talented player than Pau Gasol. Probably a lot less talented than this Kanter (the annointed one).
But right now, as the Jazz are currently constituted, that's exactly what this heartless and defenseless team needs. We need less finesse, more power and thug.
