2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Here’s one out of leftfield and maybe he blows on defense I don’t know but Larry Nance Jr.

42.9% on 1.5 attempts per game from 3. Really good rebounder per 36–10.0-12.1 per 36 each of the last four years. Averaging 4.3 assists per 36 which is way out of nowhere. Gets a crap ton of steals too—1.5 or more per 36 every year in the league.

He's worse than Exum at finishing at the rim (much worse than Rubio). He's extremely reliant on his jump shot and that worries me because he isnt someone I view as an elite shooter, but maybe he is?

2017-2018
Catch and shoot 3: 36.4% on 3.1 attempts per game
Left corner 3: 36.4% on .2 attempts per game
Right corner 3: 37.5% on .4 attempts per game
Above the break 3: 31.2% on 5.2 attempts per game
Pull-up 3: 29.2% on 2.5 attempts per game
Midrange: 44.4% on 2.6 attempts per game
Paint non-restricted: 40.9% on 2.9 attempts per game
Restricted area: 58% on 2.7 attempts per game

2018-2019
Catch and shoot 3: 39.6% on 3.4 attempts per game
Left corner 3: 62.5% on .5 attempts per game
Right corner 3: 58.3% on .4 attempts per game
Above the break 3: 33.1% on 5.7 attempts per game
Pull-up 3: 32.7% on 3.4 attempts per game
Midrange: 46.4% on 3.1 attempts per game
Paint non-restricted: 41.4% on 4.1 attempts per game
Restricted area: 51.8% on 2.7 attempts per game

We should have snagged Monte Morris from Denver. He would have been great next to Mitchell. At least he can shoot the ball unlike Rubio.

You did ask a dumb question.
One that in every conceivable way you failed to answer or even address in any way that wasn’t a non-sequitur.

Also not a dumb question. I’m assuming you’re just trolling like you do because that chain of correspondence is ****ing non-sense.

First point: What teams do we think Favors would be most valuable to? I can only think of two teams that are trying to win (so exclude Suns, Bulls, Cavs, etc.) who would significantly improve with him: 1) Washington, and 2) the Clippers. Are there other similar teams that I am forgetting?

Second point: If these are the two teams for which Favors is most valuable, it seems like they would have to be the most likely trade partners. That being said, I will be surprised if we don't trade Favors for OPJ since: 1) DL liked Porter and he tends to fixate on players, 2) Washington's GM (Ernie Grunfeld) is on the hot seat and this trade would allow them to perform better this year and have better cap moving forward, 3) OPJ is overpaid so there won't be too much competition, 4) OPJ is out with knee issues so he is not likely to be traded before Jan 15th, and 5) the Jazz 2019 cap space is less valuable than before since their major FA targets (Mirotic, Middleton, Harris) are likely to stay and there are a lot of teams with cap space.

Favors would make a difference in Boston (where he could start at the 5 next to Horford at the 4) and in Philly (where he'd back up Embiid and play some 4, basically replacing Amir Johnson).

Russell went for 22 and 13 as Brooklyn wins 6th straight beating the Lakers. This quote makes me think of what he and Donovan could be. But half y'all hate him so doesn't really matter I guess.

Denver will have a “decision” to make when IT is healthy... monte Morris is tearing it up and they’d be dumb to give him less minutes for old man IT... so wonder if he’d become available for nothing... a semi-healthy IT gives that second unit some scoring and creation it needs... even if it isn’t all star IT efficient.

We’d get lit up but the second unit isn’t amazing defensively anyway. Just a thought I had.

Yeah, I’d mentioned this a bit ago. I’m down. But bring back Jerebko and bring in Olynyk.

This is a very interesting read. https://www.sbnation.com/2018/12/19...oklyn-nets-rumors-free-agent-trade-salary-cap

Russell is the best player we can pursue who helps us now while also a core piece for the long term. We could entertain guys like Ntilikina and Fultz, but they aren't ready to help our aging roster right now. We could also look at guys like Collison and Lin, but those guys are band-aids who don't tip the scale for now or the future.

When I talk about an "aggressive" move, this is the type deal I'm referring to. Brooklyn definitely considers themselves a "big free agent" destination. In order to target the big fish, they need the money.

I propose that we get Russell AND take on Crabbe. By doing that, Brooklyn is able to dump their worst contract while they lose Russell. They would have money for two big players by doing this deal. Since they might lose Russell for nothing this summer anyway, this would be wise for Brooklyn.

Russell and Crabbe for Rubio, Thabo, Niang and our 2019 1st rounder

Alright, so I'm going to call this now. I think the most likely big-ish trade is Favors for Gallinari. If we continue to slide, especially if we continue to really suck on offense (we should, it's just a matter of how much), then the move right in between "stand pat and wait" and "mortgage the entire future and trade for Love" is moving for Gallo. He brings enough offensive punch and spacing that it would help us tremendously now, and he's owed $20M next year so this also serves as a "keep the powder dry for 2020" move, if that's where we're headed. This frees up flexibility for LA for this summer and even allows them more options while keeping Harris. Gallo can't be in their long-term plans, and I know they've previously looked to move his contract, but they are playing well this year. I'd assume West knows this is fool's gold and Favors could be quite serviceable for them this year, too. Get Beverley out of the deal, too.

rly like monte morris, hes playing solid.

Thats a huge understatement.

Watched parts of second half last night... holy **** he’s good what a bargain. He scored at all three levels confidently and doesn’t make mistakes... how’d we end up with Naz and Georges and not him???? I kid but it stinks they played together and we got the worst 2 of the 3.

Has anyone looked at the 2020 free agents list, though? I did a few months ago and the only player that really jumped out at me was Anthony Davis.

This team has got to be a whole lot better than this to even begin to appeal to him considering that the Lakers and virtually everyone else is gunning for him hard.

In other words, I don’t think there’s anything to keep the powder dry for. It’s basically this year or bust.
