2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Check out Tony Jones twitter timeline... he’s got me nervous... really high on Conley... mentioned ordering certain combo/stretch forwards and put Love over Harris Otto and Gallo (just as players without consideration to contract).

I hope his thoughts don’t mirror managements.
Love and Conley together? Is that feasible (numbers wise)? Assuming so. If both those guys came together, I totally do that. I know that sounds crazy, but that puts us on the map and the next 2.5 years we really have a shot. So long as they planned on retaining Gobert and Mitchell through that, then we’re golden.

I’d sign Beverley in the summer. And maybe DMC.

Conley / Beverley
Mitchell / Korver
Ingles / Royce
Love / Crowder
Gobert / Udoh

No. And no.

For the record, I’m not really interested in pursuing Conley. I think he certainly makes this team better but the return on investment (what it would take to get him + his actual salary + his age + I think Donovan should be playing more “1”, etc) is quite poor.

It's really surprising to see the interest in Conley around here. He's old, very small (DM and Conley would be smallest backcourt in the league), and paid more than nearly anyone in the league.

He is however good at basketball. I’m not the biggest fan either... I understand why some are though.

I'm more intrigued with guys like Warren, Prince, Saric that could be bargains and could have some room to grow. Not sure if any are really available for the price I'd want to pay.

If the Jazz are doing a win now move like trading for Conley, they arent going to trade for a guy with a bad toe who might not be good to go this year.

No to Mike. Dude has been extremely injury prone the last 2 years. I'd go for Blake if they decide to open up but I guess I'd take porter also

Here is the Conley trade I'd like:

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yanfxo4l

We'd send a lotto protected first for 2019 that converts into two seconds... Charlotte sends a top 10 protected first.

We get Conley and Green to soak up some of Favs minutes. He is traditional sized for PF but is shooting the three well. In particular he is shooting 47% from the corner this year (39% overall).Does some of the same defensive stuff but not the rim protector Favs is... can move his feet and rebound. Keep his cap hold on the books and use MLE if you want to address other needs in FA.

I think we need a bigger PF upgrade than Green. Although I do like Green.

Once we get Conley, we have to have a solution at PF too. We can't rely on free agency or the MLE. That's why we have to trade for Porter, Harris, Bjelica, even Stanley Johnson over just staying put.
