What's new

#53--OKC @UTJ 9:00 PM ET, February 12, 2013 ESA, SLC

Durant just said OKC arena is louder when it's empty. He's too young to remember when we were rocking the 97 98 finals. Nobody, and I mean Nobody rocked it like us back then.

98 Finals? Man, just look back a couple of years ago in the Booz era. Durant had to wait till 2010 to make the playoffs. Gods, I will take insults, but not one against our home-court.

We were awesome. But Arco was up there too. The 99 playoffs was epic

It's hard to say the Thunder played bad. Didn't they shoot well over 50%, the jazz took this game. The thunder could not sustain any runs in this game, because of either a clutch shot or a hustle play on defense. We deffinetly took this one from them. We were the aggressors and played with a ton of confidence. Also the jazz won every quarter.
One stat really sticks out: the Jazz took 87 shots to the Thunder's 68 and FT attempts were about even. When a team gets 20 more shots than an opponent, that usually means a win. In fact, had the Thunder not shot so well, this easily could have been a 30-pt victory. Offensive rebounds account for about half the difference in shot attempts. TO's and second attempts after blocked shots must account for the other half.

Jazz also had 25 assists to just 15 for OKC. Great game all around!

Burks silencing the haters.

Burks has completely re-tooled his jump shot - in his rookie year his jumper resembled DeShawn Stevenson's, with a lot of wasted/exaggerated motion. This year it's much tighter, more compact with an added ability to square up quickly. Almost all his jump shots are right on line now where as last year, a lot of his jumpers sailed.

In terms of style, I find it somewhat resembling Russel Westbrook's jumper who is the gold standard in the league today. He's probably the best I've seen since a young Ray Allen at stopping on a dime full speed and getting off a shot with perfect form.

It was a hard foul, but was called a flagrant because there was no play on the ball. He basically body checked him, kinda like a hockey move. It was the right call.

Like i said, tinsley does that just about every game to stop a fast break (the body check foul)

Kid, Burks isn't relevant enough yet to have haters. Enough with the little dude complex

You had a post in the free alec burks thread that simply said "burks sucks"...... sounds like a hater to me.

Yeah I think the ref-directed spite he did it with had something to do with the flagrant. Like the face he put on and his body language also.

Makes sense..... when tinsley does it, it is usually done in a respectful kinda way

Hmm Durant just tweeted out an apology of some sort, right after I chided him with a tweet of my own. Coincidence? I think not...

Durant seems like a good dude, im not surprised by the apology

Loved the way Carroll played tonight. He can be a game changer. He has that ability where Marvin consistently does not.
Also, have to give it up for Big Al. His offensive game was rolling tonight. Against a big defensive front court he did well.
We took OKC out of their game, and they were frustrated. That says something tonight about our effort.
Now the key is to get a win in Minny. If we get a win on the road it will erase those last two tough losses.

Solid win. Damn near everyone but Marv played a solid game, and even his defense was good the first half. No complaints about tonight.

Matt Harpring: "A lot of fans were down on Burks earlier in the season"

By "a lot of fans" does he mean Tyrone Corbin"

Yeah, that part irked me too. Hardly any Jazz fans were down on Burks. Heck, he didn't play enough for them to be down on him at all.
