A brush with destiny -- Celtics at Jazz 3/28/2018 7:30 pm MST

rubio kind of shut down in the final possession. He like froze in the paint, if you have the stomach to revisit that final ****, check it out. wtf was he on?

Favors probably should have played more, but I'm guessing Quin had PTSD from the 2nd quarter where the Jazz went cold.

What the f happened? I checked the score, the Jazz up by 4 with less than 2 minutes to go then I checked it again 5 minutes later and the Jazz lost by 3? Did they decide not to compete all of the sudden? Sheesh.. major loss of the season, damn.

I thought Atlanta was the game that was supposed to wake up the Jazz. Why the **** doesn't Quin have the Jazz run shooters off the 3PT line? Quin got completely outcoached by Stevens.

The Celtics hit tough shots. Rozier's 3s were all deep and contested. He shot 4-15 for the night. They jus made a couple big plays that don't really come down to coaching. It comes down to athletic players making plays.

He probably thought Rozier was coming off the screen was going to take it to the rim, so he fought over hard instead of switching then was ball watching. It sucked, but it's also on Gobert for going out to the same man that Mitchell went to.

Exum played well in that stretch while the game was still loose. In the final minutes where everything comes to a screeching halt and the Celtics go to a zone, I struggle to believe Exum is a better option than Rubio.

So Rubio is our closing SG then? who had no confidence in his 3 ball tonight, cant penetrate and gave up dumb fouls... right.

Also, it came to a screaching halt because we walked the ball up the court every ****ing possession.

Ingles passing up 3s he should take is just something that pisses me off....

I also wanted Favs in there and Exum left in. Favs has an effort and grind about him other guys just don’t.

Finally I’m gonna say Donovan on a dribbling out the shot clock a bit too much....and his defense is not great at times. He’s being asked to do a lot, but he’s pretty bad at getting over screens and gets lost on defense a little too often. Most nights his offense is the star, but for a guy who prides himself on defense he’s not exactly lock down.

Rudy had a lapse on the last defensive sequence it's not all Quinn's fault... if u see how the play starts, Rudy's in a defensive perimeter stance on Ojeleye he was supposed to keep doing that, Semi runs him to the other side of the court, and Rudy tried to cheat near the hoop, and they paid dearly for it.

IDK, but Stevens is a coaching genius for going to the zone. I'm guessing the Jazz haven't practiced zone offense all year, if ever. The zone shook Mitchell, Crowder, and Rubio. Crowder made so many mistakes against the zone and Mitchell just seemed confused. Rubio actually had the best possession late in the game where he dribbled into a pull 14 footer from the left side, which is his money shot usually, but clanked it.

Also. Once you realize that they’ve only got shooters out there. . . Why not use the timeout, adjust the defense and play for overtime.

In that instance, Semi Ojeley (.300) somewhat contested is WAY better than Jaylen Brown (.375) wide open.

Stevens knew how to break up the Jazz's Ingles pick and roll, they swarmed Gobert with 3 defenders in the paint, and they put good athletic defenders on our perimeter players. Sometimes in games like this, it comes down to talented players making plays, and tonight Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier and Jason Tatum made some.

Well that was disappointing...

Sometimes the main guys just aren’t getting it done.

Exum and Favors should have played the game out tonight. Rubio, Ingles and Mitchell just didn’t play well tonight.

The Jazz are a limited offensive team. They have a few plays they can run, but when they go against good defensive teams that take those away, they tend to struggle. Tonight was one of those nights.
