What's new

As the trade deadline inches closer...

Here is a recent article speculating where Hood might fit best with a contender: https://hoopshabit.com/2018/01/23/utah-jazz-3-contenders-that-should-trade-for-rodney-hood/

3. OKC - lol
2. Minnesota - lol - they would trade us the OKC pick back for Hood.

1. Cleveland - they trade us Osman and a future 1st. Now that caught my eye. What if Cleveland traded us Osman and an unprotected 2021 first round pick or the chance at a pick swap in coming drafts. If Cleveland wants to win now AND maximize current draft picks, they could look to deal an asset from way down the road. They could end up with DeAndre Jordan and Hood. That could be pretty substantial for them to keep LBJ after this season.

We might hate waiting on that 1st, but knowing Cleveland's past history, the pick could be #1... At the very least, we could groom Osman in the short term instead of paying Hood a fortune this summer.

I would probably pull the trigger on the Minnesota trade. We could use that Pick for Niko or someone else who fits the new Spida/Eiffel Tower building blocks.

Cleveland as well. A first for Rodney Hood would probably be fair value.

I wish Minnesota would trade us the 1st and Shabazz for Hood. That would be decent, even if Shabazz decided to leave.

So George Hill to the cavs might be a real thing? I still hold our hope Lebron...er uh the Cavs GM decides to move Kevin Love to the jazz for Favors and someone.

The Hill to Cavs thing looks done. Kings are trying to clear out the roster spots to make it happen. If anything, I think this keeps Love in town. Cavs are making a run for the title this year to keep LeBron. That's the only reason why you take on Hill's massive salary.

Stop squashing my hope Lopo!

G Hill makes sense for Cleveland. They need someone who can shoot and play along with I. Thomas or in his place. Not sure what they do if they trade Shumpert and Frye. Those JR SMith and Tristan Thompson contracts look so horrid right now--I wonder if the Cavs GM (LeBron) ever thinks about how Tristan Thompson's agent (LeBron) really screwed over the team and Lebron's chances for a title.

Cleveland can move IT for Mirotic.

LOL. My bad man. I noticed we posted about the trade simultaneously in two different threads.

GHill does make sense. I love that Cleveland is going all out to win a title if they can. They owe that to LeBron. Frye, Shump and Rose for Hill is a smart trade for both sides. No picks are needed. If the Cavs can make one or two more deals, I think they compete with Golden State. They just improved the quality of their roster with the Hill signing since he's a two way player.

I dont know that Hill is a two way player anymore. Since the toe injury with us his defense is not good anymore. He would be okay off the bench for them. But really doesnt move the needle much as far as being competitive. But I guess it might allow them to make a bigger move trading IT and can have an off the ball offensive player like Hill that can shoot well.

This has to be apart of a bigger deal to make sense for Cavs and Cavs have to give up something for it to make sense for Kings. Osman, late 1st or even a 2nd or two.

I just want something to break in favor of the jazz. I need some hope.

I would like to see something. But I am holding on to the fact we have a future (maybe current) superstar. We also have an all-NBA level center to go along with him. Watching Mitchell play is enough for me this year. Plus we will get to see Exum, Mitchell and Gobert play together after the all-star break.

So I think the Hill deal makes it more likely the Cavs parlay the Brooklyn pick in the right deal that doesn't necessarily land them a star. That extra 8 million next year is a lot more than 8 million, and all the while, TT and JR keep getting checks to be mostly non-factors.

I really think Hood and Favors for either TT or JR and the Brooklyn pick makes a lot of sense.
