i wonder if burks can become a penny hardaway-type
Don't mean to get too far off topic but I like Pullen. I like Hansbrough too.
Interesting; Kanter had 'bout the same "lane agility" as Favors...
Hardaway was also a headcase; I'm near Orlando and saw a lot of him back then. Burks seems to have way more DRIVE and WANT TO between the ears than Hardaway ever did!
And he was almost at the bottom of the draft class in terms of his buckets assisted, so he's doing that damage all on his own for the most part. Dude could be special. I'm excited to see him develop. The more I look at the pick, the more I like it.God darnit. If he can become a solid defender, we may have something fairly special here.

Same here. I didn't really like the pick at first. But that's because I slotted Hayward in at SG and focused on SF's (or Fredette) for the #12. But even if Hayward and Burks both merit 30 mins+ at some point, there's plenty of playing time at the 2/3. Still need a bigger SF to for match-ups...perhaps that's Millsap? Or if Burks really does have great ball-handling skills, he can get minutes in the backcourt with Hayward. Wouldn't that be fun to see those guys just keep posting up?!
What's great to see is the Jazz are getting some real versatility. We have three guys who can play the 4 OR 5. Three who can go 2/3 (if you count CJ). Now perhaps a legit combo guard in Burks. Perhaps a combo forward in Millsap given his outstanding range.
And, unlike past teams, we'll have a couple of guys in Hayward and Burks who have the ability to drive and get shots. I hope there's not a lengthy lockout. I'd love to see the rookie/soph game with FOUR Jazz players competing. And then next year possibly FOUR again if we get two more lottery picks.
All legit questions. There's always a chance he comes in and becomes another Snyder, who wanted to be an instant star, or an Almond, who only wanted to shoot. I think it must be hard to transition from a star in HS and the main guy on your college team to perhaps the 3rd or 4th option, or even a bench player in the NBA. Burks certainly has a lot of self-confidence. Let's hope that serves him well vs. creating conflicts. I'd like to see him develop into a 6th man. I still like Hayward more as a SG, and don't like Hayward moving to SF to allow Burks to start, except against small lineups. Burks could become a player like Maggette. He still gets 30+ mins, but you have a bigger SF who plays 6-7 mins to start each half. Then as the starters go out, Burks would become one of the main options.I think most are very impressed with his overall stats (minus three point shooting), abilities, measureables, style (very smooth), etc.
My question marks then become.
1) How is he without the ball?
2) How's his basketball iq?
3) How's his character and moreso, leadership?
