If DWill doesn't end up with the Lakers, Mavs or Knicks, I could see him considerIng the Jazz. I don't see why he'd go to Denver. Also, the Nets could still trade for Howard and find a way to keep him.
I'm surprised how many people are still butthurt about Deron in here.
Look-- he's a top 5 PG in the league who can run a pass-first offense that Utah desperately needs. I would be ecstatic if Deron re-signed in Utah. He's never been a 'me-first' type of person as some people have been saying. He had a bad, selfish season in NJ because he had a bad team and HAD to be selfish.
I can't believe there are seriously people in here who would not want a player of Deron's caliber on this team.
For those of you who think we're better of without a superstar-- please drown yourselves.

For those of you who think we're better of without a star-- please drown yourselves. If Hayward or Favors develop into an allstar, I don't expect anyone to say "Welp, better trade him before his ego gets too big." You'd hold on and never let go.
For the record, I would welcome him back with open arms.
But it's never going to happen. KOC will never do it. Why? Because it'll be like the biggest middle finger to NJ and to every GMs in the league. It's like saying "HAHAHAHAHA I SHAFTED YOU GUYS FOR FAVORS, KANTER AND HARRIS AND I STILL GO BACK DERON, AHAHAHAHAHA"
No way KOC does that. He'll lose all credibility and integrity to operate in this business. What happens when we have to move our next star player? Nobody will answer KOC's phone.
That's sad. It's a damn business. It's the GM's job to assemble the roster to run at a championship, imo. GSW is a great example of screwing themselves in future negotiations (tanking), but to think there's some wink and a nod that a team can trade a player and, all the while, know they'll get him back is absurd. No one in the NBA would think it was some big conspiracy. If it were the Lakers, maybe .. maybe .. but the Jazz? NO ONE would believe it was all pre-planned (except for NJ fans).
Wink & nod or not it's still not a good look. You and I both know GMs operate a lot on trust & favors and the relationship between them is vital. If KOC eventually signs Deron back to Utah - don't you think Billy King would be mad? Wink & nod or not, just the fact Deron came back to Utah would have meant that KOC had opened up the "possibility" for Deron to come back. To King that would pretty much constitute a "stab in the back".
And I agree, the Jazz need a super star. But Deron isn't one.For those of you who think we're better of without a superstar-- please drown yourselves.
I don't know, you may be right .. I'm no expert of the NBA (barely a novice, for that matter). I have great contacts in the cbb world that obvioulsy bleed over to the NBA and, aside from that, I tend to look at the NBA purely as a business, perhaps to a fault. I probably shouldn't have stuck my nose in this thread because I admit I don't know the behind-the-scenes NBA.
I'm no expert neither but a good example of the relationship thing I was referring to was when Boozer went to Bulls. It was a sign & trade for 5 years (not the maximum 6 years, although he had a bird rights with Utah). So in fact Boozer could have just signed with Bulls as a FA as he didn't get the 6th year, but Bulls' GM did KOC a favor and did the sign & trade anyway to give Utah Boozer's trade exception which KOC used to trade for Jefferson.
Bulls GM didn't need to do that but he did it anyway... business wise it made no sense to go that extra mile... but obviously there is a relationship thing there between KOC and Bulls GM.
Imagine our teams in the Dwill era, but they play defense, aren't soft, and have a 2nd wing playmaker.
so he missed best buy?Prior to the UTA - NJ game at ESA this year, he came over, and was truly a different person, was polite, nice, and he and I had more of a conversation than at ANY time he was here in Utah.
If KOC doesn't call, he should lose his job. If Miller tells him not to call, the Jazz are screwed. Was Deron perfect? Nope. Is he an elite player who liked living in Utah and could come back? Maybe. You have to call him. As good as Nash or Dragic would be, Deron is better.
And screw trust with other GM's. Having Deron sign in Utah as a FA, could be the first step in changing the perception of Utah to other free agents.
