After watching some Fox and Smith, they seem to have very similar strengths and weaknesses. Who is the better prospect and why?
it depends on what the team needs. whats most important is how they stack up vs nba pg's and i'd say that's safely above avg, meaning they're both extremely scarce commodities(stacked up vs future draftees too)
ultimately fox is going to get drafted very high because of his speed. there's just not 6'3½" floor-general's with that type of speed to be found. There doesn't appear to be
any on the horizon in the next few years.. if he really improves his outside shot he's a HOF talent in my estimation..
ultimately dennis smith is going to get drafted very high because he can potentially operate as both a p'n'r dynamo and an iso scorer, this is also what separates him from many of the PG's we'll see in the coming years. his upside is something greater than kemba walker..
both share a knack for spectacularly difficult high-octane finishes at the rim. very different personality wise, fox has a perfectionist way about him, ds4's more laid back, you could say it's reflected in their defensive intensity.
DS4 is shooting 39% from 3 on almost 5 attempts per game. While Fox has been atrocious from deep, this could end up being the deciding factor. I like Fox's chances at shooting better though, he obviously needs some minor adjustments he shoots laserbeams..
fwiw - I still think Fox is a good fit with Philly to run that warpspeed showtime fastbreak with Simmons..
