Gamethread: jazz in Milwaukee playing "just one game" at 18:00

I kind of hate the idea of dues. It shouldn't be hard to tell Favors "Look, Kanter just had a 20/20 and we want to go with the hot hand and reward good play. We do what gives us the best chance to win, and if you can do something of similar quality, then you'll get the same treatment." Especially if you mean it (which, to date, the Jazz haven't been able to sell given the massive disparity in quality between the starters and bench players).

But in an ideal world. And the future isn't written.

At any rate, any game without Jefferson is a joy to behold.

jgolds bro, PLEASE create the next game thread. no more lame dutch gamethreads!

I think dutch did a pretty good job with this thread..... good pics and videos

What is interesting is that the Jazz played the Bobcats less than 2 months ago. Kanter had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 2 turnovers in 14 minutes on 1-6 shooting (plus/minus of -15, worst on the team). Al Jefferson had 26 points and 8 rebounds in 32 minutes on 11-16 shooting (plus/minus of +24, best on the team).

Kanter is far from being a reliable producer even against horrible teams at this stage of his career. He will become a reliable force, but lets not get carried away by one game.

Carried away by 1 game?..... i guess you didn't properly read my post.... i clearly stated that the jazz have played SEVEN games without big al and put up a 6-1 record.... also i mentioned TWO games of 30 plus point wins.

I dont know how you thought i was only talking about 1 game though

I take this to mean that we will see a starting line up of either Kanter/Millsap/Marvin/Foye/Watson or Kanter/Favors/Marvin/Foye/Watson.

Interesting.

Wrong.... it meant that the starters will be Favors, Millsap, marvin, Foye, watson, or Favors, Kanter, marvin, Foye, watson

That is why the tweet says Favors will start if millsap plays, not kanter.

Tyrone Corbin said he thinks Paul Millsap will play and start with Derrick Favors

A little more clarity on the situation.

Also in the injuries thread, mellow said that tinsley is out tonight as well...... BURKS!

lol.. ill see what i can do. i will create the march 8th game thread. i usually have time on fridays... so you can expect a jgolds thread this friday.. hopefully it will still be up to par with what you expect.

I don't care. Both of you two have good win ratios. But yours are more fun to check out. So I'll go with you. ;)

Don't you know, seniority is priority it's the golden rule in this organization.

Of course one game never is enough but if a player has his 2nd starter game and 3rd game with minutes over 25 and plays 44 minutes with consistency and gives you 23/22, it's easily a "you've earned your minutes" pass card to me.

Come on, you clearly got excited from the last game by Kanter. Otherwise you would have posted the list of teams that the Jazz played in those 7 games without Jefferson: Charlotte, Toronto (twice), Golden State ( the 2012 tanking superhard version), Lakers, Portland and Philadelphia. If the Jazz played those teams 82 games a year they would have a decent shot at breaking the 72-win record. That what a small size sample does to you.

If we to compare apples to apples, we have to look at the same team, Bobcats. And while Kanter was absolutely great in the last one, two months ago he was beyound horrible against the same exact team... and Jefferson was the best player on the floor. Kanter is very inconsistent at this point, he alternates great performances with stinkers. It is very encouraging to see the signs of his progress, but if he to become a starter for a long period of time we are probably out of the playoffs this year. Favors is ready to start, Kanter needs a bit more time. I would be quite happy if he gets 20-25 minutes next year. He needs one more year to mature.

Tyrone Corbin said if Paul Millsap is able to play, Derrick Favors will likely start at center with Kanter coming off the bench

Just saying. Of course "likely" isn't "definitely".

I hate Corbin so much. He puts (possibly) the guy who went 20/20 on the ****ing bench. Such a worthless head coach.

Does it really matter who starts? As long as Kanter gets 25+ minutes I am fine with Favors and Millsap starting.
Yes, it does.
Millsap and Jeffy need to be GONE this summer. So Kanter and Favors should be out there as starters, developing chemistry together and playing against the opposing starters for the remaining games.

Then he be better off playing with the 2nd unit. (BURKS, HAYWARD etc) guys who will be here long term. Not Marvin "I have unflattering photos of Ty" Williams, Earl "I can't believe there is a team in the NBA that would actually start me" Watson, & Randy Foye.

Obvious to all but the Jazz' head coach.

So you get after me for using a small sample size (7 games of no jeffy) but you feel completely fine using the 1 game, 14 minute sample size of kanter against charlotte last time. lol

Also you say kanter is very inconsistent (54% from the field on the season) but when has got consistent minutes (pre-season) he has actually produced consistently.

Yet you criticize his inconsistency while he is recieving inconsistent minutes (rememeber the recent stretch of 5 minute games)

Big Al is out
Paul is a game time decision

Set your DVRs to record

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH YEAH.
corbin should start Burks, foye,Hayward Pimpslap and KANTER

so he can still say: foye and millsap led the way and the young uns followed
