What's new

Gamethread: Utah @ Jeffersons Tonight 5pm or some such time

The good news is Sacramento and Orlando played tonight, and Milwaukee and 76ers play tonight as well. So 2 of our biggest competitors are going to pick up a win tonight also.

What we need to worry about is the Bulls and the Lakers joining the fray. This race has enough ponies already.

Ok we get it. The Jazz have the talent to win... But we still need a top 5 pick to contend. Let's not forget that we friggin need Wiggins

How can we be happy about a 7-16, 4 assist night? That's not the efficiency the Jazz need from their PG.

Because he was poised, had zero TOs, had several other crisp passes that woulda/shoulda been assists had the shot been made. Started 1/4 or 1/5 before making a lot of the shots he took as the game went on.

I take some comfort in seeing that Burke played well and the Bucks are up on the Sixers. Someone has to win that game, fortunately.

I think we might have to concede the worst record to the bucks and hope that the 76ers stay neck and neck with us. So I would actually pull for them? Then again I don't know. Good thing these eastern teams all play each other 3 or 4 times this year.

What? He hit 4 3-pointers, was 2-2 from the line (.592 TS%), creating a lot of his own offense, and had 0 turnovers. That's inefficient?

I think we need to concede the #1 spot to Milwaukee. Jazz should also finish better than Sacramento, Philadelphia and Orlando. Phoenix is a great surprise, but both Brooklyn and New York are much, much worse than expected. Lowered expectations on # of wins for the Jazz, perhaps, but still see them in the 6-8 range. That's actually where I had them pre-season, but I also expected to see some great play out of Kanter, Hayward, and Favors. I'm probably more discouraged than ever right now. Hayward and Favors are no better than 3rd/4th options, Kanter is looking like a back-up and Burke is a mid-level PG. Utah may have a nice team with the picks they get, but just don't see them ever contending.

7-16 is nothing special; it's certainly a solid game (44%). The 0 TO's IS great. But only 4 assists? Burke is shooting 39% for the season thus far. That's TERRIBLE!
I just don't get the gushing love some have for Trey. Guess it's because Lucas, Tinsley, Garrett and Burks have been so bad at the point. Burke looks like he'll be in the mid-range in terms of starting PG's. There are a lot worse, but at least half the teams have or will have better PG's. Jazz have a core of good, but not great players. Lindsey can add another couple of nice players in the draft. But without a couple of stars, the Jazz have ZERO chance of ever contending. And I just don't see how the Jazz get those players. Have to hope for luck in the lottery, I suppose.

Not many PGs who shoot over %40 in their first year. Only one I know is Chris Paul and he was on the lower part of the %40.

Again, 4 3s, 2-2 from the line. That's 20 points on 17 possessions (and a foul drawn...and no turnovers); a fantastic shooting line for anyone in the NBA. Not sure what league you've been watching.

But only 4 assists?
Was Trey making the right plays?

What does that have to do with his performance tonight?

Safe to assume you're trolling?

Man you are jaded as **** about some of our players. Favors has been quietly playing quite strong lately. Burks has really woken up and improvement is obvious. Kanter is hitting some walls right now, but he's like 20 or 21 years old. Hayward's been a disappointment, but he's also saving us money by doing it.

I'm a "quasi-tanker", but I can only imagine the meltdown that would occur if we tanked our way to the worst record, and ended up with the 4th overall pick, which is the most likely scenario.

Almost twice as likely for the worst team to get a top 3 pick than it is to get the 4th.
