Easy. 8 million a year is not that much for a talented 23 year old of Batum's talent. Portland just dumped a ton of salary partly to make room for Batum, so front loading wouldn't matter to them. The Jazz could go as high as 12 million a year for Batum and I believe Portland matches.

Irregardlessof what happens with GS/Utah, Charlotte picked up a good win against Toronto and New Orleans came back in the 4th to win at New Jersey. That keeps both the Raptors and Nets at 15 wins. Detroit, Cleveland and Sacramento are still the major threats. We need two of those teams to remain behind GS. Detroit and Cleveland have a tough week coming up; they could both go 1-3 or 0-4. Sacramento could pick up 2-3 wins (but I hope not!).
This GS pick is going to be cutting it too close for my taste. Same with our own pick it looks like (we're only 1.5 games behind the 8th seed).

Yes, someone did say it a couple of years ago (not me) and the "grammar police" had a field day. We've had quite a few malapropisms over the years on the board. Sometimes intentional just to drive Colton crazy. "Mute" point is my favorite.
Uggh, highest I would consider going on Batum would be 10 million. 12 million is way too much.

Maybe it will just be better to collect on this pick next year. Maybe the draft will turn out to be overrated.
I tried to get Idiat to stick, but it just didn't get any traction.

They took us to overtime in an away game. This GS team is NOT tanking. At least the players aren't.
Right now, Cleveland and Detroit are all that separates GS from the 7th pick. Golden State has to leap over these teams, both of which would be tanking just as much as they are. But if we look at their past 10 games (5-5 for Detroit for example) and compute their success for the remaining season, I have Golden State finishing with 27 wins, Detroit at 27 wins, and Cleveland at 23 wins.
And guess who has the tie-breaker in every case? Golden State. So they actually have to win another extra game to go over both of these teams.
I don't believe we are going to miss this pick. I believe we are going to get the best possible pick: #8.

Assuming the pick doesn't jump into the top 3.

Chances on that are slim. Obviously there is a chance of us failing to get the pick, but the probability is very much in our favor.
