We need to go all out for John Collins. DWade, Don and Ryan should be at his door the minute free agency starts.
On the court, Collins fits with Conley and Rudy. He gives us much needed youth and athleticism. If he wants to sign with us at a very near max number that Atlanta won't match, then we figure out a sign and trade. We would have Bojan, Favors and Clarkson to use as trade chips. Might take a 3 team deal.
I love the short term nucleus of
Don
Rudy
Collins
Conley
Joe
Royce
and the long term core of
Don and Collins

I just did the math, and it would be very hard to keep Conley AND get Collins. But let's try it:
Maybe...
Charlotte gets Favors and Clarkson
Atlanta gets Bogey, Hughes and draft considerations from Charlotte
Utah gets Collins and draft considerations from Charlotte
Re-sign Conley for $14 million or less
Bogey and Favors combine to make about as much as the first year on Collins' near max deal, so although we do get "hard capped" by getting a sign and trade player, we could still stay under the hard cap ($140.6 million).
Rudy $35.3
Don $28.1
Collins ~$28
Conley $14
Joe $13.1
Royce $8.8
Udoka $2.1
Oni $1.8
#30 $1.6
NINE PLAYER TOTAL - $132.7
Taxpayer MLE - $5.89
Biannual Exception (BAE) - $3.73
Minimum Contract with NBA Experience Player ~$2 million
Minimum Contract 0 Years of NBA Experience Player ~$1 million
To add a full Taxpayer MLE player, damn near impossible.
We could add a BAE player and a few 0 NBA Experience NBA minimum guys and be under the apron.
Or we could just add a few Minimum Contract players making around $2 million each.
We seem thinner with this trade, but I do like having another "future star" quality player on the roster. Charlotte would have to really like Clarkson and Favors too. Seems unlikely financially unless Conley just bolts.
