What's new

Jazz players at the World Cup

No need to make both or all three free throws for the assist. Making at least one of the free throws is enough. But the leading pass has to suit the assist definitions.

I like this rule and I think the NBA should adopt it. NBA scorekeepers seem to be more generous with awarding assists compared with FIBA scorekeepers. I wonder how many assists Stock would have had if fouls leading to made FTs counted for him.

Or maybe there should be a new stat, like Assisted Points where you get more credit for setting up a made three pointer, or getting the ball to a good free throw shooter where the other team has to foul him. Not all assists are equal.

Agreed about the wasted assists by the fouls. There are moments almost in every NBA games that make me grouch like "Goodness, that was going to be a great assist!". Stockton probably had the most of those too.

Some may think though, it would not be fair that only one of the free throws is enough for the assist. However, considering that the case is about awarding the passer and the pass that "could've been a great assist", I think it's not that unfair.

Btw, iirc, there was some debate about fractional assists for the NBA. Like, if the player makes 1 out of 2 fts the passer shall get a half assist and he gets a full assist if the shooter makes 2 or 3 of the free throws. But I think that idea wasn't favored much.

Whaaaa? Nothing to see here. Didn't ya know that Exum is less a PG than Lavine?

The crazy thing is, in the 19 minutes he played this game, he had at least 2 more passes on the same or higher level. I just couldn't believe how he sees them! I am watching the full floor and I don't see those passes until he throws it, it bounces... and I'm like "WTF are you doing? That's a TO"... for me to feel like a complete *** 0.5 second later when the pass reaches the intended receiver in a lane that literally nobody but Dante has seen. It's just WOW!

Always loved bounce passes in traffic where the defense couldn't reach down to stop it.It's an art, match it with vision...Holy smokes ,Exum might have that.......

Hi there, I'm french and barely seen Gobert play this season (I'm a Spurs fan, don't hit me :D ), but i'm impressed by this guy on every France match i've seen, no doubt is gonna be a starter during the WC.

12 min at half time today and already 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Sadly i hadn't the time to watch the Jazz this season, how is he doing in the NBA ? Do you think he's gonna have more minutes in the upcoming season ?

Sorry if I made english mistakes

Bienvenue! Ton anglais, c'est parfait...et bien meilleur que mon français. I don't know if anyone responded to you yet. Most of us here love Gobert. Personally, I enjoy watching him play as much as anyone on the team because he dunks, blocks, and generally gets into the game. He will definitely see some more time this year, and I hope he develops some chemistry with Exum. I don't blame you for following the Spurs either since the basketball they played in the finals was the best basketball I have ever seen, absolute poetry on the basketball court.

Do you think the marketing and pricing system actors have their own share of responsibility for this alongside the exploiters of the copyrighted product? Can we question the income average, employement problems etc. for piracy as well? Or are those only excuses to justify these actions or decrease the guilt level of them?

To me, the piracy is just unstoppable. And I think thought, art and those kinds of things do need to be freeware. Because society is not build on acquiring everything to everyone and these things are like water, the most essential need, which is also a meta. There should be some other way to stop the exploitation rather than sueing sites that literally has no part in anything. They don't have to be on pirate's side to search for a new solution, approach to this. Pragmatically speaking from their side, they could find another way to add the pirate side to the profit system and protect the copyright owner out of exploitation's harm's way. There already is the great benefit of keeping the popularity up of the product's main area and the product itself, but I'm not getting there since I'm thinking in the shoes of the prosecutor. I find this necessary, because I don't know about your environment, but some products led by video games, sports broadcasts and certain book series are really pain in the wallet or simply impossible for some income groups here in Turkey. So I find the piracy a little balancing for the extreme difference of different socio-economical layers.
Very well spoken opinion. With all the very real problems our world is facing sharing a blurry video of athletes playing a GAME doesn't really seam all that important.
