Jazz select Grayson Allen at 21

Nah that’s his twitter handle and I think his nickname.

Then its ironic lol. 1.7 buckets per game on 42% shooting from the field and an efg of 49.6.
Not exactly eye popping numbers.

(His college shooting numbers were quite good though and I’m sure that’s where he got the nickname so I will shut up)

I was just curious who the jazz had picked in the 2 nd round lately. That’s all.

Maybe they haven’t done good at all in the 2 round and like to wait to fill their rosters spots in a way that they have been better at after waivers. I can’t think of any 2nd rounders they have drafted recently that stuck. I think joe ingles, Royce O’Neal, and Wes Matthews worked out pretty good though.
Maybe it’s as simple as that.
Maybe they like to see how guys play against nba players when trying to make an nba team before going after them cause it has worked out better in the past.
Raul Neto. Maybe the reason the Jazz have few 2nd rounders is that Lindsey and the scouts suck at evaluating 2nd round talent. That, and Dennis has traded away or sold a lot of 2nd round picks. Dennis knocked it out of the park with Gobert and Mitchell, but beyond those players, his drafts have left much to be desired. Oh, I guess you can add Hood. He was solid value.

His name is Big Gray Al

Maybe they also like getting money.
Supposedly, that money goes into a trust and does not go to the Millers. So that money would theoretically be used for basketball purposes going forward.

Unfortunately, that is less than the least-possible league minimum contract. In other words, hardly a drop in the bucket. If that guy hits, you replace one of Thabo/Jerebko/Sef for a fraction of the cost, and you have them under team control for seven years.

Let's call a spade a ****ing spade: it was lazy, bad asset management, whether any of those dudes pan out or not (although this would also apply to anyone that hits in the undrafted FA market). I think Shake Milton was definitely worth a shot, he would've been the best prospect this team has actually drafted in the 2nd round during the Lindsey era.

That was kind of my point. If Lindsey sucks at drafting second rounders then I don’t really want him drafting second rounders.

He seems good at getting guys after the draft is over though (O’Neal, jingles). I say we keep doing that.

Get better at drafting 2nd rounders. This front office has two assistant GMs (one who has worked as a legit GM for years). Or ****, just look at the BPA ticker at the bottom of the screen and go "Okay, that guy."

Then let me do it... quick simulation.

I call DL... he picks up...

“Hey this KBD guy that you worked out... good shooter and has the longest arms ever... he was supposed to be picked like 15-20 picks ago... I see a lot of picks being moved... what do you say we trade with a team for one of those... we have extra picks and we can use some cash we’ve banked the last few years.”

DL: did he go to Duke or Baylor?

Me: no but good players can be picked from any college.

DL: k I’m on it... good talk.

Me: also, can you tell Danny Ainge to eff off for me? TIA

I think it has more to say how well managed the organization is than how bad they are with second rounders. I'm mean, they're second rounders. Teams have hard enough times picking lottery players.

I really see the resemblance lol he will now trip you for this post lmao
But he looks like ****ing He-Man?

I just like that his last name starts with Al and his first name starts with something that rhymes with gay. Gotta riff Big Gay Al from South Park under those circumstances.

We can uncover obscure guys playing in euro leagues but suck at picking second round guys?

It’s just strange... I’d like for someone to ask him and keep probing.

I think a PG who can shoot like Okobo can would give the Jazz a higher ceiling. I'm just trying to look at things from the Jazz's perspective. They seem pretty comfortable with the team they have and may not believe they have the space to develop Okobo. Just guessing really. They may see Allen and Mitchell as potentially running a two-guard front down the line.
I think the Jazz probably see more value in having Mitchell slide over to the 1 when Rubio sits. Donovan is essentially the backup PG. Even if you call him the SG, he still will be the dominant ball handler sans Rubio. Jazz needed a "making guard" more than another PG.

It’s Cobra Kai or Elder Allen
