McCollum vs Burke vs Schroeder

[video=youtube_share;QsqzT18WVMA]https://youtu.be/QsqzT18WVMA

This is EXACTLY the player we wanted when we buzzing about him. I love the way he moves around.
He does seem like a pure PG compared to Burke. Trey is a warrior, and I'm not sure Dennis is, but time will tell.

Those highlights are exactly what you want to see if you like the kid. Sure he's going to have rough games, but only
idiots will deny the talent beneath the developing 19 year old there.

The only reason I can think of that might have deterred the Jazz from drafting Schroeder has to be his shooting. May be they're afraid he'll turn into Rondo 2.0? Of all the attributes that Rondo brings, as fantastic as he is as a fighter and as an athlete and as a passer, he still cannot knock down those 3 pointers with any consistency. Especially with how invested we'll be with Favors and Kanter operating down low, we cannot afford a PG who cannot hit the 3pt shot to help spread the floor.

Schroeder showed that again in last night's game that he couldn't buy a 3 pointer even if his life was depended on it.

The Jazz was interested in Kelly Olynyk and Cody Zeller, this tells me they value "shooting" quite a bit.

Especially if you consider how many teams sluffed off of Tinsley and Watson daring them to shoot the three. Having a point guard who is at least a three point shooting threat keeps defenses honest. I've not seen Schroeder play other than the highlights, but if his shooting is suspect, I totally agree with your assessment.

The Jazz had Schroeder in for a workout and would have seen him close up and really tested in with regards to shooting. Word is Olynyk hits about 65 out of 100 shots (3 pointers), which is why they've got an eye on him. May be Schroeder only managed to hit 35 shots? Who knows.

Well if this isn't the dumbest thing I've ever heard! The real spurs are very well coached. This is SL!!

These guys have been together for what.... A couple weaks at best.

Nice try Hottykkk. You've gon into full blown excuse mode now!

Yeah, and I bet he does not even realize it. Both Burke and Shroeder have struggled in SL. It's OK, it happens, it's SL, it does not mean they are busts. But to say Schroeder struggled because he went against well coached Spurs SL machine, and Burke because he is not as good a prospect is simply hypocritical statement that shows lack of intellectual honesty.

If Shroeder can't shoot, he sucks for Utah. With our bigs, we need our wings and pg to be able to run the pick and roll and SHOOT. What's the point of having Favors and Kanter, if you don't have a shooter on the wing to keep them open? Is Duncan as good as he has been if he played on Karl's Jazz, with no three point shooters? Probably not.

Let's look at some stats shall we? Screw this "eye" test crap.

Three players:

Player #1:

19 pts, 4 assists, 4 TO's, 4 rebs, 1 stl, 0.5 blks, 42% fg, 30% 3pt, 100% ft

Player #2:

9 pts, 4 assists, 2 TO's, 4 rebs, 0 stl, 0 blks, 24% fg, 5% 3pt, 80% ft

Player #3:

7 pts, 7 assists, 3 TO's, 2 rebs, 2 stl, 0 blks, 28% fg, 23% 3pt, 80% ft

There isn't a huge difference between these three. McCollum is scoring the best, Shroeder has the best steals, and Burke and Schroeder both have good assist/to ratios and are terrible shooters.

Basically, if you think you can see something that says one player sucks and the others are great, you are full of crap. Sorry.

I guess I'm full of crap.

Last night McCollum had 23 points and 1 assist. Ben McLemore the other guard had zero assists. The Kings had exactly six assists as a team.
