They were already safely below the LT.Exactly. Nets are able to fill the void left by Lopez' injury with a one-year rental. Jazz get minimal compensation because the trade helps them a ton financially - i.e. getting below the luxury tax line.

They didn't, at least not in this forum.
Okur always guarded the post player on the other team, and did a decent job. Boozer guarded whichever big was more mobile, and did a less satisfactory job. That's why Boozer took more heat than Okur.
Lopez isn't done for the year (not yet, anyway). He's scheduled to be back before the trade deadline and he'd be the centerpiece in a trade for Dwight. Trading Dwight is not a financial move for Orlando, it's a pure necessity, so they want talent back primarily with all focus on financial savings secondary. This kills The Nets. It takes them out of the running if Orlando decides to trade Howard as opposed to letting him go as an FA. And even if they can somehow swing a 3-team deal, they have less cap space that would have had to been used to take Turkoglu's contract off Oralando's hands - which will most certainly part of any Howard deal under the sun.
The only thing this marginally helps The Nets with is wins and losses - which is something they're not overly concerned with in a rebuilding year.
Negged for that? You're such a putz.
He negged me too .
Well we just got a TPE for $10.8MM and guess how much Hedo's contract is? What do you know, it's $10.6MM.
are you suggesting Jazz would bring Hedo? Why? He is even more washed up then Howard...and he is the most selfish chucker left in NBA.
Yet you preach about Andrei and how he's not washed up.are you suggesting Jazz would bring Hedo? Why? He is even more washed up then Howard...and he is the most selfish chucker left in NBA.

In the alternate universe where the Jazz do make a trade to get Dwight, then they would have to bring back Hedo, so yes I am suggesting the Jazz would bring him back. Why you ask. Well to get Dwight Howard in a Jazz uniform. And just so you don't misinterpret this like my last post, this will not happen, but I'm bored so I thought I'd throw it out there.
Yet you preach about Andrei and how he's not washed up.
What Howard has to do with Hedo? I am not sure I underestand your logic here. Howard will never play for Jazz so why even consider it?
As Clark Griswold would say, "Where's the tylenol?"
It appears, AKMVP, that Ms. Dydek is suggesting that the Jazz trade away our good-outside-shooting, poor-defending Turkish center (Slowkur) for a good-outside-shooting, poor-defending Turkish forward (Turkey-glue).are you suggesting Jazz would bring Hedo? But now we have some flexibility to make other moves. They were already safely below the LT.

Besides that, the Nets are not in a rebuilding year. You don't trade your once All-Star PG and three lottery picks for a guy with a year left on his deal. NJ is win-now because if they don't, they just set themselves back a decade. Okur is a stop gap, and it was a smart move for them. Assuming Memo can play at all (and even if he can't, they had nothing resembling a C on that team).
Again, NJ is ALL IN. They are not rebuilding (right now).
so why don't you explain in simple language what this is about? Sorry I am just lost here...
Wait you would give up Al, CJ ,GS pick and Hayward while also taking on a bad contract for a 1 year rental of Howard? I don't think that would be a smart thing for this team to do. If Howard agrees to an extension I'm all for it. But not for a rental.Look, I think the chances of the Jazz trading from Dwight Howard went from 1% (pre Memo trade), to 2%. Obviously I do not think they are going to do it. I was merely pointing to the fact that Hedo's salary this year matches up perfectly with the Trade Exception we just got. $10.8/$10.6. I do not want Hedo on my team. Nobody wants Hedo on their team (including Orlando), that is why whoever wants Dwight will have to take back Hedo and his awful contract.
The Jazz won't do it (although I do think they now have the pieces to pull it off), but if someone said you could have Dwight for 1 yr (possibly 2) but you have to take Hedo's awful contract (which lasts 3 more years) and give up Al + CJ + GS Pick + Gordo or Burks, I'd do it.
And for the last time, this is occurring in an alternate universe - not ours.
