What's new

Nash has interest in Utah?

He makes 11mil now and he wants a 3 year deal which will pay him past the age of 41. He'll be older than Stockton was when he retired.
Stockton could have played several more years. I think what hastened Stockton's retirement is that he saw the Jazz weren't going to be contenders; they were on the downward slope. And John was loyal to the organization; he just didn't want to go somewhere else. Some of that is also his personality. For how great Stockton was, he was also an extreme introvert. I just don't think he wanted to try to fit in with a new coach and new teammates.

OK - my point was more like he's gonna be really frickin old when his 3 year deal is up.

Although he's could very well play at a high level through his contract - he's a better player than Stockton was when he was 39.

THAT'S RIGHT I SAID IT!

Millsap with Nash would be unstoppable, not to mention Favors. You could even put Hot Rod and Booner on the wings and it'd still be pretty fierce.

might as well bring stockton back if we are signing this old hag. /sarcasm

but honestly nash still has a little left in the tank, but that's not what we need right now. He's undoubtedly a wonderful PG, but how much does his body have left? he's 38 years old. He's not getting any younger and he's going to want a huge contract.

Look at it this way: if we don't pick him up with the money, we'll pick up someone else. Someone who's probably a bit worse. Someone a bit younger. And someone we'll feel compelled to keep and give minutes to, as opposed to having the guarantee that Nash's, at least physically, will be off the team, though his effect will still be present.

I'm not making this up. Everyone here knows I'm from NJ. Anyway, one of my buddies goes to Bahamas every year on his Winter break which is in February actually--don't ask. He gets a week off over Xmas, in February, and around Easter. Anyway, he often sees NBA guys there, I think because they go there on NBA weekend, or something, or may be some negotiating thing they do there. Anyway, he's played blackjack with a few dudes. One was Theo Ratliff I believe, like five years ago. He's also met Nash. Said he was very nice. And short. Like not even 6'0" short in my buddy's opinion. I wanna say this year he saw Ray Allen but I forget.

Great story.

I can not accept this garbage simply on the principle that Stockton was the greatest point of all time, and please don't bother trying to force feed me statistics. I'm not gonna let facts interfere with my opinion. Stockton, on a per minute adjustment, was still awesome.

Can we say if Nash was better than Stockton at 39 when Nash hasn't played a single minute as a 39 year old?

I hope you are kidding because that was a pretty lame story. And if you are kidding, that's a pretty lame joke.
