Nelson Mandela Dies

Obviously you have never once given any thought to what it might be like to be a slave, have your children be slaves, their children be slaves, and so on and so forth, all while your white master can do whatever the hell he wants to you with no thought of repercussion.

But yeah, slavery is sooooo much better than being thought of as one great person while millions if others suffer.

I do not think lying is good. I do not think breaking laws are bad. But in my mind, human decency and not having millions of slaves for the comfort of some rich white guys trumps any law put forth by the white guys who own slaves.

Edit: I meant to say I do not thing breaking the law is good.

Sounds like you hate rich white people.

I think you need to do some soul-seeking on your racist ways, son.

But again, congratulations on responding to none of my points, and just inventing new ones. I sincerely hope you're still in high school, because you're arguing techniques and logic are poor at best.

R U SRS

Slavery was about rich white people and enslaved black people. It just was man.

Yep. Since you responded to so many other points as well.

Look, there is no way to argue that abolition was bad or that it was ill gotten. Plain and simple it was one of the greatest things to happen in this country. And the ends absolutely justify Lincoln's means.

I think this thread was a success.

Funny you never addressed my points....

It's a little different having to back up your "Facts" against real life experience!!!!

It's easy to sit back and be an arm chair QuarterBack about the history of South Africa compared to being part if it and seeing the Minority treat the Majority like indentured servants and then have the gall and say but the Facts... The facts I'm just presenting the Facts!!! Well Facts don't tell the story, facts don't stop what was going to be the Bloodiest Civil War of the 20th century!!!!

Was bombing German cities in ww2 justifiable?

Still waiting on a proper response on this.

Is giving thousands of Iraqi civilians cancer from munitions containing depleted uranium justifiable?

That's the crappy thing about boards like this. Most people have their opinions and are not really going to be swayed by someone else, especially not if the other side is snarky like most of us are guilty of.

I really am curious as to what you would have had Lincoln do rather than what he did to abolish slavery? I personally am convinced that he was deeply committed to a just and equal treatment for all men, regardless of color (modern civil rights are a different issue than what he dealt with, IMO). I am also convinced that he did the right thing, no matter how many established rules he had to break in order for it to happen. The question I have is this; when would it have happened if not for Lincoln? And wouldn't waiting have been the morally reprehensible thing to do to the enslaved millions?
