What's new

New star wars

$238m opening weekend. Holy ****.

Over $500m Worldwide. Disney is on their way to getting their investment back in the purchase of Lucas Films. Now just make a new Indiana Jones to make me forget the childhood raping Crystal Skull.

I can imagine what a crapfest it would have been if Lucas still had the reins.

Well Disney is hopping on the Star Wars train with both feet.

Rogue One is coming out in 2016 and is already filming. This is a straight up war movie. It is about a squad of X-Wing pilots on a mission to steal the Death Star Plans. Takes place between Episodes III and IV.

Episode VIII is due in 05/2017 (looks promising from what I have read, good director and Benicio Del Toro is added to the cast).

And they are working on 3 more. A Han Solo spin off, Boba Fett spin off and Episode IX.

Also there are a bunch of cool easter eggs and cameos. Did any one realize that Daniel Craig (yes, James Bond) is in the movie?

yeah they should have left the mask on.

I think that was the point. He is not Vader but he is what Anakin should have been.

Boyega is my favorite, though. Easily the best one of the three. His energy kept the movie alive at some points. He was kind of a glue guy.

Oscar Isaac is good too but he is much more experienced.

Meh. Boyega was just sort of there for me. Nothing special. Isaac brought legit acting to his character.

I enjoyed all three. Rey has extremely expressive eyes. You could see pain, sorrow, anger... And it was believable. And Rey and Boyega and Boyega and Poe had great chemistry.

I just want a legit Barabel Jedi in the trilogy.

I would say my biggest complaint is that aside from named characters none of the aliens were recognizable. Not one, that I remember seeing, was the same from a species in any of the other star wars movies.

Dude who stuck his head out of the ground as the droid rolls by early on was in the original Star Wars and is the character ET is based off of I believe.

There is a similar character that pokes his head out of the compactor in the original.

But there are so many iconic looks they could use. Like a darth maul alien, Twi'Leks or the green guy that tries to kill han in the cantina.

We went to it yesterday. I pretty much loved everything except the "even bigger death star" thing. Especially that it had a weak spot just like the old one did.

Anyone else think the villain was too much like severus snape?

Heh, I said the exact same thing to my daughter in the theater.

I'm with Hekate. I loved Boyega. Also loved Daisy Ridley. Oscar Isaac was cool, but I didn't like him quite as much as the other two.

Dude, it's a big galaxy.

I agree and I don't want all known aliens. but it would have tied it to the originally trilogy more if there had been a Twilek in the bar or a another wookie or a rodian in the Rebel HQ...

It's a minor annoyance but just a way I'd have improved it if I was involved.

It is kind of weird how they show tons of humans but only select other races

My response was tongue in cheek. I totally get the complaint.
