What's new

New star wars

It is kind of weird how they show tons of humans but only select other races

and only like 1 of said race. That's might point. You'd think that they encounter other members of the same races frequently.

Like a table full of only 1 race. Then 5 scenes later in the back ground another member of that race is in the back ground. Stuff like that. It's wouldn't cost any more money, just replace on random alien with another.

That was Snoke not Kylo Ren.

Oh, my bad.

But on the topic of "was it Ren or Snoke," here's a theory: in the movie it's stated that Luke was the last Jedi. He then began training a new generation of Jedi until one of them turned to the Dark Side and ****ed it all up. We're meant to assume that this was Kylo Ren, however, that then leaves the question of how did Snoke receive his training? I think there's a chance that we're being mislead, and Snoke was actually the student of Luke's that originally turned to the Dark Side. Maybe Ren was really young when this happened while training with Luke, and Snoke took him under his wing. For me, this would explain a few things like 1.) how Snoke has knowledge of the Force 2.) why Ren isn't actually all that powerful (he can't handle Rey? Really? Even when it's her first time wielding a lightsaber? Someone trained by Luke ****ing Skywalker for years should have much more ability with a lightsaber than that) 3.) Why Luke is in hiding. Part of Luke's disappearance is due to a depression brought on by his own failure as a teacher (letting one of his students turn to the Dark Side). That much is clear. But part of his reason for hiding seems to be fear; maybe the student who turned on him is just as strong as himself, which Ren is clearly not.

Just speculating here.

Perhaps a spoiler warning would have been appropriate for those that hadn't seen the movie yet?

Sorry. I didn't even think about it. Just thought it had been long enough since it came out and didn't think someone who hadn't seen the movie would read several pages of a thread about the movie.

This all makes sense. Honestly. Except Snoke looks old as ****. Older than Luke even. So he mentored a 45 year old?

One of the things about this movie that has pleased me the most is that Kasdan and Abrahms left so much of the characters and factions origins mysterious. Considering there are going to be new directors and I believe screenwriters involved with all future films, this gives them a ton of freedom to come up with interesting places for the story to go. I think that was one of the major strengths of the original series was that they left so much unexplained you really got the sense if just being dropped into this alien world.

I think one of many problems with the prequel movies was that they tried to give too much unnecessary backstory. It left little room for the story to breathe, and also led to some weird decisions like Anakin being the builder of C-3po and that whole midichlorians thing.

I wish Leia would have died. By far the worst performance in the film.

Perhaps waiting to look at this thread until you have seen the movie would be appropriate.

Oh, I had seen the movie. I wasn't saying that on my behalf. But up to that point, there was still speculation and discussion being made by people who hadn't seen the movie yet. All I was saying is that when you interject in a discussion filled with people that hadn't seen the movie, it's courteous to precede any spoiler-type comments with a warning.
