Either way, the post i quoted are talking about byu fans coming into this thread and talking trash if the utes lose this season. So we are talking about the present, not the past. So like i said, no need to even have those worries. This is a good thing imo.

Byu fans (at least on this message board) are pretty respectful, complimentary of the utes, and rarely trash talk ute fans. (Other than maybe a couple)

No need to worry guys. If your team loses you won't hear much from us.
If you win, you will get mostly complimentary posts from us.

I decided to take your advice.
Went to the trib website and went to the ute section and pulled up the first two articles that were there and took screenshots of the comments that showed up.
Here they are:

No comments from byu fans, though there were two comments about byu from a ute fan.
I was probably just unlucky though

No cherry picking here just looked up the top two articles on the trib website for both teams and screenshot the comments at the bottom. (On the second ute article there were allot more comments to see if I were to click the "load more comments button" so maybe there were a bunch of byu fan comments in there that I didn't see but I just took screenshots of the ones that originally load up for all 4 articles.)

My comment about BYU fans was tongue-in-cheek. I've commented (recently) about how many sane and rational BYU fans I know. Every fan base has its fringe.

ESPN coming to town. Man, every week that goes by, Utah just looks better and better.

Great time to be a Ute fan.

Probably be ranked around #5 after this week. Everything that could have helped Utah happened.

Plus Miss St did what Miss St do, lol.

Can't wait to see what Utah does to Cal's defense. Watched the Cal game today, man their OL is terrible. Time for Sack Lake City to continue its reemergence.

Can't wait. Who is going to be there at 5:30 am sharp? Anyone taking a sign? How many pathetic BYU fans will there trying to photobomb big brother? Ha ha. They've never experienced ESPN and Gameday without us. Ha ha. Pathetic.

I'm excited to see Utah continue to improve. They may be getting Dimick and Patrick back as well. We haven't even peaked yet. Will be funny to hear all the "experts" pick a Cal upset just to have Cal know what it's like to be Oregon. Lol.

If I had time I could show you a bunch of posts that have been left in a Ute Homer thread on this very site by BYU fans, but I'm not going to search around to look them up and then take screenshots and everything, so you'll have to just use your imagination. The bottom line is that they are from these BYU fans who think they and their ilk are a superior brand of human to Ute fans (same old story, right?), but instead of trash talking about their team (which they realize is no longer worthy of that sort of support) they go on and on about how gracious their fanbase is and isn't it a shame that other fanbases can't be as loving and accepting as theirs. Pretty tricky way to try to switch the narrative, huh? I have enough experience with BYU fans to know it's not likely many of them would grasp the irony of such a situation, anyway, so there's really no point in discussing it anymore.

Stahp, this kind of attitude is just asking for trouble. Cal is a good team, and QBs like Goff have been a huge problem in the past. And even if we get by them, have you seen this schedule? USC will be out for revenge in the Coliseum. We got shelled by AZ in Rice Eccles, why should we be confident going down to Tuscon? Have we EVER beat AZ St? Not to mention the trap games in between. And anyone who thinks that the Michigan team right now is anything like the one we beat, you're kidding yourself. They get better every week, thanks god we played them week 1.Utes are probably going to be top 5 or 6 tomorrow, and it means nothing. I need to see more. I'm delighted with this team so far, but your attitude towards it just reeks of getting comeuppance. You had a similar attitude last year after USC if I recall.

Can't wait for Gameday. I'll go to that in the morning, then the game that night. Look for me in the MUSS. Go Utes!!

ESPN power poll has Utah and TCU #1 and #2. Pretty cool seeing us lowly MWC brothers on top again.

What you did there was straight out of the cougarboard handbook of moral superiority.

Show how Ute fans are scum, BYU fans are chosen by God, and that makes it ok to be a fan of a very mediocre program while your rival excels.

All you need now is a story of how your car was keyed after you put a BYU sticker on it, how you flew a BYU flag and your house was vandalized, and the tidbit on how when you went to RES and all the beer poured on you.

We get it. We've been hearing these things since you started beating us in the 70's. We took your fanbase's crap for 20 years. Now things have settled back into the historical normalcy, where Utah is just better than BYU. It's ok. Your grandparents never knew BYU had a football team and your kids will probably never know BYU has a football team.
