Parsons gets 3 years, $45 million offer from Dallas

I'm glad we agree that the Jazz need Hayward.
I saw what you did there

But why do we need him? Where will he take this team? Where would the team go without him?

This may sound crazy, but maybe Hayward resides in an area that is above a simple role player, but below NBA superstar. Chandler Parsons is the very definition of a role player. He is very good at one thing and not much else. Hayward can give you 20+ points on any given night, rebounds well for his position and is also a great distributor for his position. Nearly every one of his teammates see their shooting % go up with Hayward on the floor.

While I'll gladly agree he's not a superstar, I think he brings too much to the table to be labeled a simple role player.
I agree with these posts and figure we will match so im gonna TRY to get a more positive outlook on the situation
Hayward is clearly more than a role player. He will be a borderline allstar for the length of his contract here, and probably get another big contract when that is up.

I just stumbled onto an interesting stat.

Career 3pt shooting percentage:

Parsons: 37%
Hayward: 36.5%

I think that's a great example of just how dumb we are as fans. Without seeing that stat, most fans would shout from the roof tops that Parsons was by far the better outside shooter. Myself included.

And i think burks is 35%

The nba has gone completely mad. Parsons and Hayward are not worth this much money. Especially not parsons. He benefited from playing next to Dwight and harden so much that he is getting such a huge deal. Hayward would look awesome playing with those two guys, and he still wouldn't be worth the max.

I think we keep Hayward, and I am probably on board with it, but inflation in the nba is insane. Last summer, there is no way any team pays more than what favors gets for Hayward, and now all of a sudden Hayward is worth like 25% more? Crazy.

Because IMO, he's a very good player that we don't replace easily, or at all. His versatility is not common.
thats how i remember people talking about mike dunleavy.

Hope hayward improves instead of continues to decline

I mean, I don't think this will come close to some of the worst contracts in the league. Hayward will be a solid player for the length of his contract and has an outside shot a living up to it. I'm a fan, and when we match I'm gonna go and root for our team and hope Hayward starts putting up 25 7 and 7. Really, what else can you do? Made it clear that I would never match this deal, but I won't be bitter about it for the next four years.

I think Hayward is better (slightly) than Parson and he got similar money for a team that I consider extremely well run, if Houston matches Parsons, with Charlotte and Utah both offering Hayward max that's at least 4 teams who think these guys are worth what they are getting paid, and I'm sure there are others.

Welcome to the new NBA folks.

Parsons is worth 9 mill a year. He's getting 15. Holy crap the NBA is screwed up this offseason.

How can someone be worth 9 if a team out there is willing to pay 15? Doesn't the idea of a market suggest that a player's value is set by how much someone is willing to pay them?
