Point Guard Contingency Plan - Summer of 2017

Teague does have some positives on Hill. He can create a lot better, which would be nice to have, but he cant shoot or defend as well and his game will fall off faster than Hill's (or at least one would think). Hill is the flat out better fit and it really isnt arguable.

Hill/Teague/Holiday are all probably going to be similar contracts. Whoever signs first is going to set the market value for what the other two will get paid. If anything I would think Hill would get the least because of his age, but who knows.

I can see the Spurs forking money to him. Or the Knicks if they whiff on the other two (and let's be honest, who wants to sign with that toxic *** team these days. Well, maybe GreedyG if no one else wants him for four years

The Spurs have a lot of money tied up in Gasol/Aldridge/Parker/Green. They also have to make decisions on Ginobili next year. Do they even have the $$$ to pay Hill close to what he is looking for?

And stop being a douchebag and calling him GreedyG.

The 76ers can afford to pay Hill that and he's a great fit there with Point Simmons.. Imagine the 76ers signed both Hill and Hayward LOL. they might win 50 if Embiid plays most of the games and Okafor puts his hands up on defense.

Dude Ginobli is 39 this year, he isn't extending (and if he is, it'll be for pennies). Parker is on his last year next season, Gasol is on a player option that year (which he likely declines and chooses to enter free agency). Dedmon will decline his option.

LMA and Kawhi are only taking up 40 million of the cap, which is 108. That gives you nearly 60 million to appease Hill, Gasol, Parker, Mills, and various filler on extensions (not to mention Dejounte and KA on good contracts), seeing as Green is being paid 10per.

My guess is that Patty bolts, Gasol signs for 12 mill a year over multiple years, and that leaves you lots of space, and 45< million in the years after. They have enough to entice George Hill

That's fine. I don't disagree. Teague is the better player. I said that from day one. Maybe, instead of trying to out smart everyone, go get the best player.

If we had done that, we'd be sitting with a lot more wins, our core locked up, and battling it out for the third seed in the West and Boston would have traded for Butler.

But, instead, we are sitting here with the option of resigning an old, oft injured PG to a ridiculous contract and then losing Hayward to Boston. Or, let the PG go and definitely, most likely lose Hayward.

We've done some things so well...then you go back and look at some pretty obvious things we could have done and we didn't to save a couple of bucks...it's disappointing.

Teague is definitely not clearly better than George Hill...

LMA and Kawhi are only taking up 40 million of the cap, which is 108. That gives you nearly 70 million to appease Hill, Gasol, Parker, Mills, and various filler on extensions (not to mention Dejounte and KA on good contracts).

My guess is that Patty bolts, Gasol signs for 14 mill a year over multiple years, and that leaves you with 30 million next season of space, and 45< million in the years after. They have enough to entice George Hill

Ginobili signed a 1 year 14 million dollar deal at age 39, so yeah, you dont really know what he will sign for if he does re-sign.

We may have to settle for Mills or DWill. Although I prefer that to doing a 4 year max with Hill or Teague.

dalamon the problem with trying to go for Jrue is now the NBA knows what he can do without injuries and that's gonna drive his price sky high.

The answer is Deron ****ing Williams.

On another note, who in the hell would be stupid enough to pay Hill the max? Does that mean D-Will is making $100M too? Because there really isn't that much difference between the two.

I think if Hill is going to command 30M for 4+ years and Exum continues to show some improvement over the last 25 games, I'd prefer to roll the dice with Exum. We'd obviously have to get someone to push him/insurance through the draft or through a quality backup (better quality than Mack) FA but I'd prefer that route. Hope Favors gets healthy (he's looked more physically healthy to me), Hood becomes more consistent, maybe use a fraction of that money to sign PJ Tucker for some toughness (which we sorely need)/stretch 4 game we need, or someone else, which helps leave the door open to also retain Favors and Hood if we so choose. Of course, that approach also opens the door more for Hayward leaving I would think.

This may be something to consider. Sign Deron, with no guarantees he even starts. I can't imagine 4-5 years though. I would do 3 years/45M though I may be wildly undestimating his perceived value this off-season.

Dragic would be awesome on the Jazz.. Asking price will be very high tho, it's unwise to do deals with the don Pat Riley.
I love dragic
