What's new

Post your early prediction for our roster next year

Favors
Kanter
Burks
Hayward
Evans
Murphy
Marvin (player option)
Carroll (3 years / $10 million)
Mo Williams (2 years / $16 million)
Randy Foye (3 years / $21 million)
Al Jefferson (4 years / $58 million)
Chris Wilcox (1 year / $3 million)
1st Round Pick (ours)
1st Round Pick (GSW)
2nd Round Pick

I think that's what will happen, whether I agree with it or not.

Those are some pretty good predictions on the salaries and years I think. Except Foye. I think he gets less money than that.

Jazz Sign and Trade both Millsap/Jefferson to other teams: My prediction is Millsap to Houston, Jefferson to Charlotte. Then they send Marvin Williams to LAL for Pau Gasol and we roll with Pau for one year until he expires and we go full youth mode. We sign Calderone who now wants to come to two year deal to tutor our PG.

2 Draft Picks we will try to pick Trey Burke & Alex Poythress...

Resign Demare Carroll to 3/$7.5M
Sign Calderone for 2/$12M
Pick up Pau Gasol for Marvin Williams
2 Draft Picks Burk & Poythress
Resign Foye to 3/$12M

Starting Line Up:

Calderone/Burks/Burk
Burks/Foye/
Hayward/Carroll/Poythress
Favors/Kanter/Evans
Gasol/Kanter/
Jazz will also sign a veteran minimum C like Hollins from LAC or something like that.

My thoughts mixed with my hopes.

This way we have two large trade exceptions, we go young kind of while retaining our our cap space to still be a dumping ground for asset/pick collection.

Estimated Payroll: $54M with $6M for taking on contracts.

Nice testes.

No way Jazz go after Gasol
His best days are over
He throws roster and payroll into chaos

Frankly, even though I like Tinsley and Watson, I don't think they are on the team next year. The real question is whether or not Burks can be the primary backup at the point. A few months ago I wouldn't have thought so but lately it looks like he might just be able to do it. With him being the primary backup, you draft a point with the 20ish pick for the third guard and use Foye as the injury replacement. (along side Hayward and Burks who are both better passers)

I think those sign and trades are highly unlikely. Those teams have no reason to do it.

I would love to get Gasol for two reasons... he helps our team and prevents us from re-upping to long term mediocrity which is what we do with Millsap/Jefferson. Also, I think the highest per year money Mo gets is $6M for any multi year deal. Calderone will be had for that or $7M but not for more than 2. Randy signed for $2.5 this year and is having a career year but I don't think he gets more than $5 under any circumstances. So many players will be freeking out this off season with how many guys are getting squeezed on years and per year pay.

The other thing is the other teams will give us the sign and trade because our front office has that kind of respect around the league, and we won't mind throwing in a 2nd round pick like we did with Boozer to Chicago.

I think Al will re-sign, but hope that he doesn't unless its for under 10 Million after year 3 of the deal. Kanter and Favors should both be starting by then, and I don't want a big contract on the books.

Milsap will get more from somewhere.

Mo will be back hopefully for 3/15 or so but will probably be closer to 4/25.

Marvin will opt in.

Foye will take more money somewhere else.

Carrol will be resigned.

Jazz will get a pg in the draft and another through FA.

Jazz will draft a wing and get a 4th big through FA.

Evans will not be back.

PG Mo/draft 1a/FA
SG Hayward/Burks/Draft 1b
SF Williams/Carrolle/Hayward/draft 2
PF Favors/Kanter/FA #2
C Jeff/Kanter/FA#2

I seriously hope your wrong. I will give up on this franchise ever actually trying to win a championship if they sacrifice their flexibility and ability to sign the young guys by signing those guys to those contracts.
.
I have no interest in Millsap, Jefferson, Mo, Tinsley, or Watson returning to the team. Marvin we are stuck with because no way in hell he turns down that much money. But if they pay Jefferson that much and Foye and Mo that much we are screwed going forward and that is seriously overpaying for all 3.

You like Tinsley and Watson on this team? Seriously?

Would Millsap accept being the starting 3? He wouldn't accept a backup role and I don't think we'd pay him a lot to be one. I don't think he'll be back.
With Jefferson it's weird. You know Corbin would start him over Kanter and if the FO talked to Ty about having Enes be the starting C would Jefferson accept that? I think he might. But if he did, would he also accept a salary cut knowing how much teams would give him to be their starting center?

I don't think either one are going to be back next year. That said I think we resign DeMarre, Randy, Jamaal, and Mo. I think Marvin decides to stay another season and I think we sign a capable backup center that has good defense; à la Samuel Dalembert. We get some rookies in, hopefully Golden State plummets just enough to get us in a good position to select Trey Burke. I don't think that will happen though. I think Golden State will fight for a playoff spot, maybe get the 7th or 8th seed or maybe they barely miss out, but either way I don't think we'll be in range for Burke. So we end up getting a PG in the second round in Nate Wolters (This guy is gonna be great. Trust me.) Mike Muscala (C good scorer, rebounder, shot blocker, decent defender) and Andre Roberson (SF great rebounder like Muscala, good defender too.)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for us to get Burke but this is how I see next years roster;

Alec Burks
DeMarre Carroll
Samuel Dalembert
Jeremy Evans
Derrick Favors
Randy Foye
Gordon Hayward
Enes Kanter
Kevin Murphy
Mike Muscala
Andre Roberson
Jamaal Tinsley
Mo Williams
Marvin Williams
Nate Wolters

With that roster it's probably around 45-50 mil.

Lineup:
Mo, Tinsley, Wolters
Burks, Foye, Murphy
Hayward, Carroll, Roberson
Favors, Marvin, Evans
Kanter, Dalembert, Muscala

I heard just a bit of Locke today going through scenarios for next year. The main one I heard is that maybe they lose both Al and Sap and "go lean" and play the Core 4 (C4). He went on to say that maybe that is good and that maybe they are ready. Then he said that maybe they are not ready and it leads to a 35 win season. To my mind, if they did that and the C4 had the most minutes next year and won 35 games, I would count that a success. I think that would indicate they can do it but just need time to mature and gel, kinda like OKC.

Mo-Burks-Tinsley
Hayward-Foye-BJ Young- Murphy(or Watson)
Aminu-Marvin-Hayward
Favors-Kanter- SF/Olynyk- Richard Howell(47th pick)
Jefferson-Kanter-Olynyk (or Willie Cauley-Stein)

I agree that 35 wins is not the worst thing in the world if the core 4 get their minutes. I wish it had happened this season to be honest.

My prediction:

Mo Williams
Tinsley (cheaper than Earl)
Dirt Cheap Veteran PG (Ronnie Price? Keith McLeod? Milt Palacio?)
Foye
Burks
Marvin Williams
Hayward
Carroll
Millsap
Favors
Evans
Jefferson
Kanter
Draft Pick (either package the two picks to move up to 16 or trade one for a future pick, top 28 protected)
2nd Round Draft Pick

Get it done!

Especially in next years draft. Heck, a 30 win year would be great and our young players learn on the fly and make this their team.

We should rent Gasol for a year in the offseason. I think he can be effective with new scenery. Kanter 6th man, then ready to beast, start the following year.

I am still disappointed that we did not get Bledsoe. At this point in time I could really care less, I'm tired of this Vanilla offense and all these aging vets getting playing time over more deserving younger players.
What exactly has Lindsey done since he took over for KOC?

One frustrated Jazz fan right here.

Starters: Williams Hayward Draft Millsap(FA) Favors

Bench: FA (PG) Burks Carroll Kanter

3rd string: Tinsley Murphy Evans

This is what I would really like to see with Millsap and a PG being the key FA additions and the other two guys coming from the draft. I would also be okay with Carroll starting and the new guy as back-up.
