Ric Bucher reporting Jazz have signed Randy Foye to a 1-year deal

I love it. Not too sad about Burkes sittting if he does. If he deserves it, he will play. Contrary to local opinion.

You mean like last year when hayward, bell, miles were all ahead of burks on the depth chart and burks was getting DNP after DNP.

So according to you, bell and miles were much more deserving of minutes than burks last year.

Apparently they do because they have spent more seasons in life.

Why would you start Foye over Burks or Hayward to start the year? You kinda know what Foye is. You don't know what Burks or Hayward are yet.

I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but the Jazz will be paying Foye $2.5m:

Jerry Zgoda: To get an idea of the market remaining for SGs-- i.e. Ronnie Brewer, etc. -- Randy Foye just agreed to a 1-year, $2.5M deal w/ Utah Twitter

That's on HoopsHype.

Here's mine:

PG: Maurice Williams, Jamaal Tinsley, Earl Watson
SG: Randy Foye, Alec Burks, Kevin Murphy
SF: Marvin Williams, Gordon Hayward, Demarre Carroll
PF: Derrick Favors, Paul Millsap, Jeremy Evans
C: Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter

Reasons:
I would prefer the Jazz to start Randy Foye and Marvin Williams at the two wing spots, while Burks and Hayward would come off the bench behind them. If Jefferson and Favors are going to be our two starting low post players, I would prefer having three players on the wing (Mo, Randy, and Marvin) who specialize in perimeter shooting. They would also give us a veteran-laden starting lineup to counter a young, athletic, and talented bench (Tinsley, Burks, Hayward, Millsap, and Kanter). I also really like Hayward off the bench. When he came off the bench last year, he played much better. He, Millsap, and Burks would provide the scoring for the second unit while Tinsley directs the offense with Kanter down low providing defense and rebounding. The Jazz legitimately could be the deepest team in the league this coming season. Even deeper than San Antonio.
Hayward along with Favors is the franchise, and you want to bench him? Hayward and Favors need to have as much court time together as possible.

Burks was a rookie who didn't have the benefit of summer league or a real training camp and only two preseason games. I'm guessing he wasn't ready to play big minutes, but as time went on he earned more and more time, and often finished games. Your acting as though this signing means Burks will never get off the bench. My point is if Burks shows he's worthy of extra playing time or starting, then Burks will get his regardless of this signing.
ugh.. good point. But that should be less of a factor now that Burks isn't a rookie still right?

agree

agree

Burks should start and get 30 minutes +

As a SG, I wondered WHY he'd come here, with our depth. I didn't know he could play PG, so now it makes sense. Our biggest weakness, IMO, was 3 munchkin-size PG's. If Foye can defend the PG position well, good move!

didnt he come into the league as a pg, also I can't be 100% sure, but I think he played both guard spots for the Clippers last year.
