What's new

So glad we don’t have to deal with this anymore ……

Whose Gorbert?

Seriously, it doesn't make the top 5 (the trades of rookies/picks don't really count).

With the new cap increase and players signing 60m a year contracts, Gobert's contract looks more palatable for the Wolves now, I imagine.

The fascination with gobert and for them to worry about how good wolves future will be , seriously that team sold its soul in that trade .

We have an upgraded version that does things that Rudy still can’t do , catch the ball , finish around the rim other than a dunk .

If wolves traded Rudy right now , what would be the return ? Other then maybe a 2nd rounder and a team absorbing his contract , that’s an awful return on an investment not even a year into giving up the farm

interesting tidbit on DM

"Mitchell scored 28 points on an inefficient 11 of 26 from the field and 3 of 12 from 3-point range to go with five assists against three turnovers while being hunted on the defensive end.

For the series, Mitchell averaged 23.2 points on 43.3% shooting and 28.9% from beyond the arc to go with 7.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 3.8 turnovers. Fine. But nothing special. Not to his standard. He shot better than 50% just once and the Cavs were outscored by nine points with him on the floor. He was out-gunned by counterpart -- and almost-teammate -- Brunson for the second consecutive postseason series."

Allen is definitely good and I'm not sure where you are getting that cavs fans want him gone. Also one mediocre playoff series doesn't mean much of anything.
CavsTalk. I browsed that board now and then last year mainly to check on Don/Lauri related discussions.

They absolutely buried him after the Knicks series and even before that there was a lot of people who claimed him to be the weak link.

Gobert sucks he gets exposed by his opponents and teammates. He will be out of the league very soon

In the 2020 Playoffs, Mitchell was absolutely on fire, and he played well in 2021 as well. The other 3 post seasons with the Jazz, Mitchell was very inefficient offensively (TS%: 51%, 42%, 50%), while playing zero defense.

Unless all his shots are falling, Mitchell is just not THAT good.

Of course they buried him after that series. Emotions are always high after a failure and the cavs definitely failed. That doesn't mean that Allen isn't a good player and definitely better than what he did in that series. I never understood why some people judge guys off of a bad series or a bad stretch of games when there is plenty of long term evidence that they are better than that.

When talking about playoffs, how many passes should one get?

I personally dont like him for getting pushed around as much as he does. A center who cannot shoot outside of the paint has to be able to control the paint at least to some degree. Allen instead got sonned by Mitchell Robinson, who is hardly elite..

A pair of guards, no matter how good they are, are not winning 4 straight playoff series for you.
Besides the Warriors dynasty?

Perhaps you mean two small(ish) guards that suck at defense, dominate the ball, and don't really know how to play off of each other.

Yeah I outlined Steph as the exception to that rule earlier in the convo. He is next level special compared to Don.

Gobert took a step back last year so it's pretty hard to say he's better than Mitchell. Same with KAT.

I think Edwards is better tho.
A lot of this is expected. I never thought Gobert and KAT would work together. It requires a completely revamped system.

Rudy does need the right system to flourish and I don’t think KAT wants to play outside the paint full time.

Honestly, Rudy on the Warriors would probably work because their guard heavy offense could compensate for his weak offensive ability. His defense could cover and allow guards to rest a bit on D. Win win.

Rudy to the Wolves could have been the worst possible place for him. Good for us though.

This whole conversation just reaffirms that last offseason was a masterclass by Danny Ainge. Both of those trades have the chance to go down as the best (or worst, for CLE/MIN) trades in recent NBA history.

Under current CBA rules, both teams have at least a decent shot at keeping a good chunk of their nucleus together. But if 1-2 guys force their way out via trade and it turns into a draft-capital heavy package, the original picks/swaps we received look mighty valuable.

They could go down as some of the best trades. They could also still go the other way. We have lots of "assets" but we are not even a playoff team at this point.
