What's new

Sources: Utah has expressed interest in re-acquring Deron Williams

I'm down with d will.... in fact I think it would be a great move.
But..... that's without knowing what we give up and I don't know his contact situation.

you frequently post about not knowing contract situations. Do you know where to go (quickly) to resolve these questions?

dude one little ball throw how many years ago ?? not like they got into a fistfight or anything. they probably laugh about it now

I'd be excited to have dwill back... mack has to go in the deal. I have a dwill jersey that is basically brand new that I was given for free... it's the nice kind. Would love to break it out again. He gets his redemption and we put his statue next to Haywards in 20 years.

I think I'd be happier with dwill than louwill... especially considering the price.
First thing my wife said when I mentioned the rumor was "do we still have my pink d-will jersey?" Yes we do, in the back of my closet. She now wants the trade to happen lol.

You know the millers have a stockpile of leftover D-Will jersey's. Buy Fanzz stock now ahead of the move... you are welcome.

The playing time is the only issue with D Will reunion. I'm sure a second would get a deal done... well at least pretty sure. I don't want to sacrifice Exum's PT the rest of the regular season though... now that he's showing some progress.

I wonder if we could move AB to Philly for Richaun Holmes and the draft rights to Korkmaz. Holmes is a nice cheap rotation big and Kormaz seems like a solid prospect. Would not have to match salaries... would clear some PT for D-Willy.

Locke mentioned D-Will loves it here and would want to come back. He has a no trade clause which likely depresses his trade value. Contract is big enough that Cleveland and others would have a hard time matching it. We fit well. I think it happens unless we can get an extension done with Hill. Dallas gets a second and some cash savings (not that Cuban cares, but it's something).

Regarding playing time, he can be our stretch four. If 6'8" Diaw with his 4 rebounds per 36 minutes can be considered a center, why can't 6'3" Deron Williams be our stretch four?

Because even a JV coach can orchestrate a play that would create a switch that puts Deron defending a postup.

The Jazz are 23-9 when Hill plays. They are 12-13 when Hill is hurt.

DWill solves that problem. What if DWill takes you from 23-9 when Hill plays to 25-7? What if DWill takes you from 12-13 when Hill doesn't play to 16-9?

All the sudden, you went from a 50 win team to a 58 win team.

PLUS, if Hill is too expensive, then you have a backup plan in DWill this summer, so you gain leverage in negotiations.

Finally, if you only have to give up a second round pick, or the GS 1st round pick...DUH. Only a moron would say no to that trade.

Would not do the GS pick... second rounder for sure.

Ya, but I like to interact with people too (for the most part) and I'm lazy at times and busy at times. In other words sometimes I look it up myself, (if I really care too) other times I don't and other posters (like the post right before yours saying it's 9 million for this year and that's it) give me the info, which is nice of them. In this particular case I didn't care enough to look it up.

hmmm.. even when it takes less time than writing the post. Weird duck.

Would not do the GS pick... second rounder for sure.

Why? Why would you do a second round pick but not the 32nd pick? Makes no sense. None at all. Especially when the player you get with GS's won't be much better than an early second round pick and the GS pick is guaranteed and the second round pick is not guaranteed.

Dwill can play the 2 at times and start for George when he needs time off. In the playoffs Exum may get a little rattled it would be nice to have Dwill keep things in check while George is out.

This is an unusually deep draft full of talent. I've heard experts say this draft goes 60 deep in this draft. I think there will be more then a few good picks later in this draft.

Agreed.

Do a simple cost/benefit analysis. The few benefits Duron provides is nothing to the costs. If we acquire Duron we might as well just tell Hayward and Exum to get fed.

The damage to chemistry alone could potentially set this team back for years.
