Spurs Doing What Jazz Should be Doing

It's much easier to move off of Murray at $18M while taking back Gallo when they already have a ton of cap space then it is to move off of Rudy at $38M and Don at $30M...
If we're moving 70 to 80m in salary, we're moving Don and Rudy. That would be the point if we're firing up the Patton for a better pick. That's the only point I was making.

My point was that it's more difficult for us to do what the Spurs are currently doing because we have to move players with much bigger contracts while taking back guys that make us terrible.

There would be no shortage of ****ty contracts to eat that add up to the requisite amount while acquiring assets.

But if you take on multiple, multi year ish contracts it limits roster flexibility for a while, lol.
If we're doing a Presti by trading Don and Rudy, we are consolidating picks into players. Roster's are as flexible as the number of other team's 1sts you are sending.

if I'm Atlanta or Toronto I'm going all in on pursuing Rudy.

It's sad. I wish we'd keep Gobert and trade DM

Spurs traded Murray because he told them he would not re-sign with them. So that makes me feel better about the deal.

But we're rebuilding while remaining competitive!

I feel like this is just a story to cover their asses. He could only extend at 20% above his current salary which is a fraction of the max.

There is really no realistic scenario he would’ve signed an extension at that amount.

I think they mean re-sign at the end of that deal. The way Murray was tweeting he didnt seem to upset or surprised about it, so I believe it.
