What's new

Stanford @ Utah

I wonder where the Utes would be with Kenneth Scott and Jake Murphy.

This team is only 2 plays away from being 6-and-0. I try not to think about that though because it makes me sad.

The what if game sucks. I did that every game Riley Nelson played, not cool.

I say just be happy with the progress the team has made and hope others step up. It sucks when good players go down, but that's how this game is.
Utah is looking pretty good this year, Stanford was a great win. I'm not 100% sold that they have arrived and will win against the good teams every week, but at least you now know it's very possible. Definitely progress being made.

This is very well said. I don't think I personally am in danger of being blinded by Ute-colored glasses. I am, however, very optimistic for the future, and feeling really good about the improvements over last season.

This is true.

Same could be said for byu btw

Utah has talent. They have tons of potential. After the KO return for TD, they dominated Stanford until Whittingham got hurt. Heck, if Dres could consistantly catch the ball, who knows how ugly that game could have gotten for Stanford.

Here is the question: They are a young team, can they be consistent? We will find out this Sat. If they win, they have a shot at 7-10 wins this year. If they lose, they might not make a bowl game. That is what is so crazy about young teams: consistency. This weekend is HUGE for Utah. I'd say bigger than last weekend.

Both byu and utah have only lost very close games.

Both teams could be undefeated if a couple plays go thier way.

I'm not 100% sold that they have arrived...

I'm not either. But I feel like this is the progress we have been looking for. It was reassuring to see that the defensive game against UCLA wasn't just a fluke. To be perfectly honest, I had given up on the secondary after the first 3 games, but they have managed to get their **** together. If they keep it up, things look good for the future. Arizona on the road and ASU at RES are going to be fair gauges of how things are going. These should both be winnable games.

But I'm with you Spazz. The Utes haven't arrived anywhere yet.

No, they haven't arrived and a loss in Arizona wouldn't surprise me. I blowout loss would shock me, though.

Of course utah barely beat usu, byu, and stanford.... so a few plays go wrong and they could be down to only 1 win (weber)

Byu won comfortably against usu, texas, georgia tech and middle tennesee
